Peachey
Menzies (died in the arse lately)
Mason

How can you put Peachey on that list? He's the 2nd best fullback on the planet.

I'll trust you Moffo, but answer the question:
How you say Blacklock when he hasnt played in the NRL for the best part of a year and then re-signs for around $10,000? How is that overated?
Prior to that he scored 100 tries in 117 games.

lol, i feel a sense of dejavu in arguing this

1) What does the contract amount mean? He is being paid peanuts so the saints can put him in under the cap

2) He hasn't played for a year. How does that affect how overrated he is? Does the overrated factor decrease or something?

He is a top finisher, knows where to stand. Many of his tries were from being the last man in a good attacking move along the backline. In my book, catching the ball and running 5 metres across the line unopposed is not skill. I know you don't agree, and id rather not have the argument again, but personally, i think he has a weakness in defence

Guess he will get a chance next week now after Roberts needed a shoulder reconstruction. How bout those cowboys?

How bout those tiges!

Tama - Peachey is a good gap runner, but i feel he goes missing in a lot of games. His game on Friday was typical of him

Cheers,
Moffo

So that means he wouldn't have been signed for more...so he is not overated by the club.

My point is how can you overate or underate any player who hasn't been in the NRL spotlight for the best part of a year?

LOL...rubbish. Ok 100 tries in 117 games... just lucky eh? I've seen him manufacture many a try Moffo. You watch as much Blacklock as I watch Anasta... at least I can spot a dummy from a mile away.

Looks that way. It was a shocking effort form Saints.. and your mob as well.

BTW, I saw Blacklock tonight at the club. He was hanging by the foyer and talking to people who wanted to shake his hand. He didn't have to be there but he was amongst friends and looked very comfortable. He hung around for quite a while.
Earlier in the day there was a huge line outside for the lower grade match at Kogarah. They were there to see Blacklock play in the curtain raiser. We ended up with a near capacity crowd.

I don't think that's relevant Willow as your assertion that Lewis was overrated clearly shows. IMO it's simply based on whether one believes a players ability matches the general publics/media rating or regard of him.

Your probably right about Blacklock not being over rated though, but that's only because he has never been rated among the top wingers anyway. :p

Fair enough... a player can be overated if they havent played for a while. That being the case, I'd like to throw in that upstart Dally Messenger. ;-)

Absolutely. As far as I know, the publicity surrounding Blacklock's playing abilities centre on his try-scoring and that he was the competition's leading try scorer for three years. Despite this, he was never rated as being good enough by the NSW selectors.

A few overrated players:
-Craig Wing
-Shaun Timmins
-Ben Ikin
-Michael Vella
(quite a few Parramatta players actually)
-Henry Fa'afili
-Jason Stevens
-Chris Flannery(How did he make origin??)
-Luke Bailey
-Bryan Fletcher
-David Peachy (not too bad a player, but he does some stupid things sometimes which he shouldn't)

I used to think Craig Wing was overrated but I definitely think he is one of the game's best players at the moment. His running is explosive and is the key player for NSW to win the Origin series IMO.

I agree on a few of the others but Bryan Fletcher has been a shining light this year in a very bad side. He has also shed his overrated tag IMO.

I don't think Craig Wing has much of a defensive game, but he can run the ball well.

I cant believe that Craig Wing is again on peoples lists as being overrated.

Oh please he is one of the best players in our Team (who are current Premiers) and running 2nd on the ladder.

As for Flannery he is an excellent talent and has been out injured a bit this year but if you happened to watch any games he has played he is always in the thick of things.

Anyway give Craig Wing a break and keep picking on people like Anasta and Mason who think they are all that!!!! and not.

I think people around here sometimes get mixed up with over-exposed as opposed to over-rated.

Well Craig Wing is definately over-exposed, and maybe thats what gets me about him. He does have a great running game though, and is dangerous with the ball in his hands But there are several players in the comp just like him who are hardly ever mentioned, e.g Mark Mclinden.

Yeah, Wing used to be on my overrated list but not anymore. He really has tried to get rid of that pretty boy tag and at the moment, he is even providing more spark to the Roosters than Fittler.

I'm thinking that Finch has improved his game a lot since going to the roosters. Tell me Kaon, did you like Finch much when he was down here at Canberra??

I had a lot of faith in Finch a couple of years ago but that was pretty much spent by the end of last season.

Brad Drew is not a really good halfback but the Raiders are making him look good in the position. Just imagine what they could have done with Finch.

I think Drew played really well tonight, and I don't mind him in the half back position. In saying that, his kicking game can let him down a bit (i mean long kicks from inside his own half). He's shorter kicking game is very pleasing to watch.
