anyone who saw Radiohead lately would have to say Phil Selway is the best drummer in the world at the moment. he was just amazing live - i thought Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden) was good but he isn't even in the same league...

By the way Thrash! I remember you telling me about Flo from Cryptopsy or something! And there's no mention! I'm disappointed!

I prefer the ones I listed but Flo is outstanding

You're right....how the hell did i miss that? I'm a dumbass

If it weren't for their mysterious, untimely deaths, we'd be talking about 1 or 2 of Spinal Tap's drummers as being among the greatest.

And what about Steven Williams?

my fravourite drummers of all time are

bill stephenson - the descendents/black flag and all. bill is bloody quick and his fills are brilliant.

josh freese - the vandals and a perfect circle. top drummer, quick at pretty much everything. very sought after drummer and guest appears on a shitload of albums. watching the vandals live dvd and putting it on drummer cam just blows me away. plays massive fills and qucik drum pattern with such ease. not even sure he breaks a sweat.

byron - pennywise, same as josh freese.

joey - slipknot. just for his double kick work.

LArs Ulrich is the most overated hack in drumming history. Thankfully only one person has nominated him so far. The Slipknot guy is nbothing that special either.

Guys I rate:

Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel/SYL/Death/Old Man's Child)
Dave Lombardo (Slayer/Fantomas)
Jan Axel "Hellhammer" Von Blomberg (Mayhem/Arcturus/Kovenant)
Tony Laureano (Nile)
Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel)
Flo Mournier (Cryptopsy)
Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal/Nile)
The original drummer from Primus (forgot his name)
Proscriptor McGovern (Absu/Melecesh)
David Gray (Akercocke)
Chris Reifert (Autopsy/Abscess/Death/The Ravenous)
David Suzuki (Vital Remains)

With all due respect. This Band is my Favourite band and has been for the past 4 years. Therfore I think he is the best Drummer because this type of music is my favourite. We all have our opinions Frank, Dont diss mine!

I'd go with Virgil Donati from PLANET X. He's also Steve Vai's current live drummer.

Neil Peart from RUSH.

Phil Varone of SAIGON KICK.

Terry Bozzio is also right up there.

Probably plenty more too.

Fair enough.

Just out of curiosity, I've been checking out the Rap thread and you seem to have voiced some fairly straight up and down comments about your dislike for the genre.

I hope you're not 'dissing' other people's opinions?

yeah but the other 2 do jack shit. on stage they seem more intent on beating each other around. joey should be the only drummer in slipknot. seems more than capable. to think he was originally going to be one of the guitarists.

Yeah, but that would leave out the shock image Slipknot became so popular on.
Slipknot without the shock image would make them just your typical korn clone.

realistically slipknot really only need the two guitarists bass player drummer dj and vox. but as you said without the extras they wouldnt have the shock value. people know them as a 9 piece and that is somewhat different at the moment.
