travis barker is the best drummer ever in his genre...
he is absolutely amazing and he can play anything
he has done side projects with the transplants, not to mention drumming for black eyed peas on their tour... and of course he is the drummer for blink 182... the only talent instrumentally in that band

in no particular order:

flo mounier - if anyone has heard cryptopsy's live album then you would know why he is head and shoulders above the rest.

dave lombardo - nailed everything with slayer and now with fantomas. i cant fathom how he can keep a metronome at a crazy tempo.

martin lopez - playing to soft music is harder than you think and he looks so effortless when he really is going nuts at times.

raymond (fear factory) - the greatest exponent of double kick. im surprised his feet havent fallen off.

richard evansand - hard hitting and used to whole kit well when he was at soilwork. psycho drummer.

michael quigley - no one knows him because he plays for the trashy canberra nu-metal band tourettes. hes one helluva guy and its probably because i know him personally that makes him all the more better. he can actually play jazz like a crazy man also. good all-round drummer.

Neil Pert - Rush
Danny Carey - Tool
Flo - Cryptopsy
Josh Freese - Vandals, APC, Devo
Mike Portnoy - Dream Theartre
Dave Lombardo - Slayer
John Bonham - Zeppelin
Earl Hudson - Bad Brains (best punk drummer ever)
Chris Penny - Dillinger Escape Plan

Too bad Travis Barker is in one of the shittiest bands around otherwise i think he's alright.

yeh we're talking about drummers... not drummers and their associated bands

travis is easily the most talented punk drummer around now

byron from pennywise and josh freese would give travis more than a run for his money. not to mention jordan from strung out.

a drum magazine poll was taken in the states recently where readers rated the punk drummers at the moment

1. travis barker
2. josh freese
3. jordan burns

personally i'd go for josh. super quick on everything and makes it look alot easier than travis.

I'm not going to go into my faves in great detail but I must say it's surprising that a lot of you here haven't recognised Vinnie from Pantera. I'm not into these guys anymore but I used to love them - and he was sensational on the drums. It almost seems their whole era has been ignored here - they were after the prime of Iron Maiden and the original metal bands but before Joey from Slipknot and the guy from Mudvayne came along. IMO Vinnie was one of the best metal drummers of the 90s.

vinnie paul is great, always have liked him but since i stopped listening to metal i've focused more on the drummers in the genre i like.

another guy i think is pretty handy behind the skins is the drummer from soulfly, dont know his name but his pretty good.

Didn't he drop a whole lot of weight a fee years back? I think he's down to about 280 pounds now! :p He's still bloody huge anyway.

Yeah if I remember correctly he lost weight during Time does not heal, but f**k how could he weigh so much with the way he plays drums, the guy's a monster drummer?

He looked waaaay skinnier in the band photos for 'Symbolic'
Yeah he dropped a shitload of weight just before he recorded Symbolic with Chuck (RIP) . He said in an interview that he dropped from 175kg to 120kg (385lb to 280). I agree that it's incredible how he could play the DA stuff so well when he was such a fat bastard! I even remember reading a review when he played a gig in London on the "Time Does not Heal" tour with a broken hand  . I mean 90% of drummers couldn't play that shit if they were in perfect shape, especiallyconsidering how long those songs are!
