Watched the clip. They never actually said it was the first nor did they at any time dis the Wolfpack. Just spoke about their project and what is involved. I'm sure some will still feel the outrage you're looking for but I suggest that should be directed at the person who wrote the blurb.

I know there is the inevitable code war BS but there's a real opportunity for both ownership groups to work together here on several fronts. As detailed in the interview weather is an issue. Lamport is the preferred location of many Canadian Rugby fans I know due to its proximity to downtown and the night life it offers. Lamport would be a prime location for a temporary/permanent dome structure to be built over top in order to allow for use during winter. Both groups could put a strong case for local council support and approval in such a project.

The good thing I see here is that it lowers the chance of the Wolfpack switching to union which is something that wouldn't have surprised me. Also, it will give the general sporting public more education on the fact that there are two types of Rugby when the inevitable question comes up from the uninitiated; when is the Wolfpack v Arrows derby?

What makes you think that is even a possibility?

The reason that I though it was possible is because they are a privately owned business that receives 0 funding from the RFL. So therefore, if they wanted to switch, it would be less complicated for them. Just see out their current licence and say goodbye. They would lose little in the way of fans if they did as the Rugby community in Canada seem to follow both codes.

Not looking for outrage. But I suspect the blurb writer only wrote what they were told to write. Either that or they are an incredibly poor researcher.

More likely poor researcher. We're not going to go down the Stallion "Union is secretly the illuminati" BS are we?

I'm not going to get into a argument or carry on, but IMHO Stallion is essentially correct.

You only have to look at France, UAE, Morroco, Greece and yep. NZ.

Too ignore it is delusional. Union is no friend of League in Canada. Or the US. Or anywhere.

My one and only comment in the thread.. :expressionless:

There is little doubt that Union is no friend of league in many countries. Stallion isn't the best salesman of it though

On the Full80 podcast today they heard a rumor the TV deal when they get into Super League is worth 20,000,000 in what currency was not told. Just rumor but if true Super League agreed not to share TV money either way.

You mean it would be worth an extra £20m if they are there?

No this would be from a North American network for Toronto's games on the basis they are in Super League. Toronto forfeited any TV money from Sky on the basis they keep whatever they can make from their own deals.

I didn’t think that was the case. I thought once they got to SL they could get money and teams had to start paying their own way out to Canada.
If the RFL don’t get any added value what’s the benefit of letting them in the league?

No idea but it's just what the rumor is I guess at present. I do remember Toronto saying they don't want Sky money but they want whatever they could get themselves but never heard any follow up to that. If a so called network in North America wanted the rights to the sky games (if they stay at 2-3?) along with their Toronto matches than I guess that's another revenue gain for the RFL.

MLS first ever paid TV deal was 8 mil a year and that was 10 years after the league had started. During then they were averaging 17k per game with 12 teams. So if the Wolfpack could manage that by simply making SL then that’s amazing
