Rafael van der Vaart earns what, 3.6m a year in wages topped up with bonuses and the like. That is a lot of money for a player who is reportedly not in the plans of the new manager. The clubs will come to an agreement in the reported 9-14m range and the offset of his wage is a bonus. Money saved is money earned as they say.

Spurs only pay about 100K a week tops in wages but then they can pay a sign on fee if they are trying to sign a big name player they offer a few mill or what ever up front then put them on the standard wage

that aside I heard 20mill so deduct 2 mill for the exaggerations and I'd say Levy could let him go for 18, or maybe even 16 but any less I dont see us selling him
