The quote is a disgrace.

You recruited Wade Graham to play 7 and are now chasing Jeff Robson....... Bloody hell, now wonder we are struggling.

Townsend showed enough to be worth persevering with. He wasn't great but will learn.

The key now is to get a proper development plan in place like a decent business would.
1. Hire a specialist coach (Johns would be ideal) to work one on one with him for two hours a week to teach him to think like an elite halfback.

2. Develop his leadership skills so that he can give orders to blokes Gallen and Snowden and they do what he says.

Halfback is the hardest transition from TC to NRL. Townsend needs to be given a clear plan and have the coaches show some confidence in the kid that he can make it by investing some resources into his development into an elite 7.

Townsends development is one of the most important playing issues we have. If we end up signing Robson to play 7 then it is an admission of defeat. The club needs Townsend to make it so the club needs to put in the resources to make it happen.

He did recruit wade to play in the halves and if he didnt get him we would be stuck with smith porter, i know things are not good but they could be a lot worse if wade isnt there.
Maybe bringing robson over he can actually help Chad it doesnt all have to doom and gloom.

From ABC Grandstand.

'Under-20s half-back Chad Townsend stepped in for injured number seven Scott Porter and handled himself admirably in first grade, setting up Bukuya's try with a grubber and making 18 tackles.'

For the coach to not mention him post match in an encouraging way was lamentable.

Couldn't agree more. Yes we didn't win the game, but at least pump up his tyres a bit, he played well on debut.

Since the rule changes in the early 90's to the 10 metres and the interchange in and thus changing the game to the wonderful expansive thing it is now, the halves have dominated this code. As you'll see below, the half combinations our club has put on the park since that rule change would never have delivered us a premiership imo…. unless perhaps astrology and god and other man made stuff really affected outcomes, which of course they don't. Some quite good players…triers…. here and there…but….on the big day…( which of course you actually have to get to..)…??? Also listed are the grand finalists half combo's since 92 until I got bored…many fine players of their era’s. No wonder the cupboards empty.

2003

And so it goes on til now

So ….a few rep games for a couple of them……a pretty ordinary history of halves imo over nearly 20 years…..

Lets hope Townsend is the shit.

Flanagan needs to stick with Townsend for rest of season, we dont need to see either Porter or Smith again been there dont that.

If Kelly is back for next game lets go with Townsend/Kelly they both seem good on feet, and could combine well with Gardner.

Try Graham as either backup hooker or in backrow

Porter will probably cut grass full time next year.

Smith will probably become an owner of a pub.

Hey guys,

Fantasy related question, is it safe to assume that Townsend will now start for the rest of the season and if so will keep the kicking duties?

Thanks

Provided he retains form on both counts I'd say that's a probability, panther. Our backline seems to be performing better with Townsend guiding it. Still, you never know what goes on in Flanno's head.....with Kelly coming back he could put Graham back to half and drop Townsend. I wouldn't do that.....but then I'm not Flanno.

How long till Kelly is back?

If Townsend does get dropped for Kelly who then becomes your kicker?

Thanks heaps

Matthew White has kicked a few goals this season, so I'd say it'd be him or even Stapleton.
