Looks to all hang on Mortlock at the moment and he does have a history of injury - the rest are either ordinary or playing ordinary. They looked more potent with Giteau at half and Staniforth at 2nd five.

No need to be mystified. Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. I thought I did.

The lead up to engage is far too long. At the risk of repeating myself, I hear that's going to change. I certainly hope so.

Why does it matter how long it is?

What's so difficult about waiting for the referee to say engage, and then engaging?

I've heard they may be changing the, crouch, touch, pause, engage thing so it happens a bit faster. I certainly hope so.

The one thing that really annoys me about scrums is the amount of times the ref pulls it up when the ball is at the back of the scrum- FFS just play it on!

What really annoys me is Gregan delaying the feed into the scrum...if it is the halfback that is ruining a good set scrum and engagement by both teams then the ref should call this accordingly.

How many times did he got to feed the ball and then hold it up in the air to bring to the ref's attention ???.:?

I agree. Gregan should have been short armed time and time again. The All Blacks were clearly dominating at scrum time but Jonker, like most refs, has little technical knowledge as to what is happening resorts to the "get out of gaol" card of resetting the scrum. Australia would have been dismantled systematically early on if Jonker had a sense for what was happening at scrum time. No disrespect to Australia, because frankly New Zealand's front row is just that damn good. Ask the supposed next best scrummagers in the world, the Frenchies who have been made to look foolish time and time again in Le Paris.

As a former scrum half, I would never feed the ball into the scrum if the scrum starts to move.

Although the ref was telling george to feed the ball...george was correct in telling him that the scrum wasn't stable.

Not sure of the rules now, but the scrum has to be stable before the ball is put in......

Agree...but the ref has to decide on whether he is doing it intentionally as well...
