Vaealiki, Hopkins, Muckert, Pearson and Hindmarsh?!?!?
HAHAHAHA

We are talking 2 Aussie reps, 1 Kiwi rep, and a Qld Origin player...
Vaealiki and Hindmarsh fair enough.... but Hopkins, Muckert and Pearson aren't up to anywhere near that mate!!

And as has been said, it was a TRIAL. No one really cares too much. If I remember correctly, we didn't win a game in pre-season a few years back, and were 40 minutes from a Grand Final at the end of the year.

What are you laughing at?

Hindmarsh is without a doubt better than any forward in your team. I would rather have Hindmarsh than Stevens, Beattie and Bailey combined. Hopkins would be a walk up start in your team. Beattie and Bailey have no right to play reps and i doubt they will this season.

Yes it is just a trail, but i think you the one taking this all too seriously.

Am I?
Explain how that is so...
I wasn't the one who went on to the opposition forum boasting about a close win in a trial game!

Who would Hopkins knock out of 1st Grade at the Sharks mate? I'm interested to know.
And yeah, Hindmarsh is a good player, no arguements there. As for the others that were mentioned... they would struggle big time to get a starting spot at the Sharks.

Ok from a Sharks fan who was there.

The Eels ran out with a whole new team each quarter, I dont know how Smith could say he rotated the players all night. Dykes played the first quarter and played no more part in the game.

The sharks off loaded all night long and if it were not for a fare amount of dropped ball we would have won by a big margin, defence was good on our own line. Kimmoreley was solid, Lomu in my oppinion had a blinder, Number 20 for us also ran hard all night long I don't know who he was but he is one big mother. I reckon I saw more offloads tonight than in the last 2 years, the passes will stick with a couple more trials once they get used to the deeper attack again. Merrit is a good buy, Franze and McGoldrick also played well.

I think 2004 will be a good year.

Number 20 was Dale Newton going by the team list on sharks.com.au
He's a big boy... and agressive too!

So dropped ball killed us hey? Nothing new there.
Hang on to a few, and win some games. Sounds good.

but Richo they threw that ball around like a hot potatoe, sometimes forcing it when they shouldn't of, midway though the 3rd quarter the lights on the eastern side of the field went out and never went on again.

One other thing I forgot to mention all the Sharks players hung around on the field for an hour after the game talking to fans and signing autographs, BK couldn't even get a drink, I had to pull the security guards aside and tell them that he wanted an unopened bottle with the seal still intact but they kept giving his open bottles and he refused to drink them. Yeah and in case you were wondering the Eels players were straight off to the sheds for a shower.

Nothing wrong with a bit of "razzle-dazzle" in a trial. Do that in am NRL match and there might be some trouble though!

No lights on one side of the field?!? WHAT THE?!?

As for the hanging around and signing things on the field, it doesn't suprise me. The Sharks boys are generally good for that kind of thing. Hell, Bails even gave me his beer after the last game against the Dogs last year! Hahaha

A new-look Parramatta side gave coach Brian Smith plenty of encouragement heading into the new season with a gritty win over Cronulla in last night's trial match.

Before 8000 fans, a ground record, at Kingsford Smith Oval, the Eels overcame some spirited resistance from the Sharks before grinding out a narrow win.

Both teams scored five times, but Parramatta's goalkicking got them home.

"It was tough, you want a tough game. Both teams really ripped in, without a doubt," Smith said.

Smith singled out prop Aaron Cannings for special mention, praising his new recruit from Manly.

"His try showed what he can do," Smith said. "He's about 116 kilos, and when he makes a break like that no one can run him down. He's got good leg speed for his size."

Despite the defeat, new Cronulla coach Stuart Raper was pleased with his side's performance, not least the effort from fullback David Peachey, returning after his well-chronicled absence from training.

Raper agreed with Smith that it had been a physical encounter.

"That's what I wanted, and especially it was what the players wanted," Raper said.

"I thought five tries each was a good guide to what the game was.

"We did some very enterprising stuff. On the fringes we looked dangerous, going forward we looked dangerous. We showed what we can do."

On Peachey, the coach added: "Mentally and physically he's been right all week. Even when he went away he was all right. That's behind him, it's behind all of us. I thought he looked very good tonight."

For Parramatta, fielding four new faces, the win was welcome after last season's tribulations. Smith used three different halfbacks during the four quarters, and both Michael Witt and Adam Dykes scored tries, while Englishman Chris Thorman's grubber kick laid on a try for fullback Luke Burt.

Ultimately, Parramatta's go-forward from the ruck took its toll on Cronulla's smaller pack of forwards, and James Webster crossed for the clincher midway through the last quarter.

And you guys have a GREAT record in Grand Finals of late hey?!?

And how exactly did the Eels "go on with it" in the 2nd half?
We were trailing by 6 at halftime, and lost by 4.... so we won the 2nd half by my reckoning!!!

when you finally win one, then you can talk, till then shhhhhh!

we went on with it by winning the match :D

At least Parra have made a GF in the last what 25 years since the Sharks have even made a GF.

unless you count SL when only 1/2 the teams were there

Remember it took the Eels 34 years to win their first.

Yes , please f**k off back to your little forum. It always amazes me how Parra seems to of won the comp, in Febuary.
This is a great result for the Sharks, under the new coach and with new methods testing out against Parra and coming within a whisker.
Id be worried if I was a Parra supporter, same old heads, same old coach....only way is down I guess.

Vaealiki, Hopkins, Muckert, Pearson and Hindmarsh, Cannings, Graham, Peterson and Muspratt

oh dear god no! Hindmarsh is the only one I'd take out of that list. Vaealiki is a joke. Bailey, Stevens, Vagana and Beattie would all have a walk up spot in your team unlike the likes of Pearsons and Peterson

Dale Newton is the bomb btw.

What a joke! Hindmarsh is garbage. Couldn't cut it at Origin level where he went hiding because he was SCARED. A big bloody pussy. Stevens, Bailey and Beattie have all stepped up to the mark at Origin and undoubtably far superior players than Hindmarsh.

I think Parra have potential and they beat us so they cant be too bad but yes Hindmarsh has to be one of the most over rated players of the past ten years.

Peachy is a freak.

That backwards flick no look pass he did in the first quarter, back to the supporting player, was something you would expect from Michael Jordon.

Noddy and Peachy are 2 good reasons why people with part with their money to watch an NRL game.

Good to see some positive input Twizzle... here's hoping Peachey brings some of that old spark back when the season finally rolls around.

Gotta say Noddy had a huge influence on hte game.

One try he scored from a charge down of a Witty kick, he gathered the ball passed off and recieved it back for a 40 metre try.

Another Sharkie try was a brilliant Noody kick, a mile into the air from about 15 metres out, landed on the cross bar and fell into a sharks lap, and scoerd under the cross bar.

May have been some luck, but you just know that's what Noddy was aiming for with such a kick.

He lead the Sharke around the park for 4 quarters, and totally controlled the play, as you would expect him to.

Sounds awesome. Looks like the doubters who thought Noddy couldn't play under anyone but Anderson could be wrong.
