Bloody Parra fans.
You don't hear boo from them for years, then when the SL war breaks out and the ARL crap themselves and it's open slather to sign players Parra fork out 9 million TO COME 10th!!!!! and we've never heard then end of their bleatng since.
Anyway, as for the trial.
I thought Paul Gallen played a blinder. Absolutely smashed them in defence, made serious inroads wth the ball and had a very good workrate.
Matt Hilder looked dangerous everytime he touched it and caused no end of trouble around the fringes.
And Nutley just kept on keeping on.
Whoever no20 was he looked pretty good too, and Lomu looks like he'll cause some headaches.
In the backs Peach played well, though only played half a game. Spent a lot of time sniffing around Hilder and Noddy so if they can get some passes popped for him it could be good.
Merritt looks like a promising buy.
Reick played pretty well. No handling problems and caused the defence some headaches.
Franze also looked pretty good.
I didn't see much of McGoldrick but he was solid in what he did without being spectacular.
Saleh looks like he could go alright too.
Unfortunately the program had the players numbers all mixed up so I have no idea on some of the younger guys.
There was a backrower (no. 19 with the Jason Stevens highlights in his hair) who looks pretty good.
Sam Isomonger has, I think, seen his best days (and sadly those were spent on the injured list).
All in I was pleased with the effort. You really can't read too much into trials but, based on what I saw there last night, and the players left out of the squad, I'd say we'll push for semis for sure.
And no, I'm not going to bag Parra. They played alright and look like they've got a good squad together as well.
