That Hazelton try was diabolically soft. Made me think that this season was going to be a slog. Soft as butter from Capewell.
I'm really not a Capewell fan. I can name maybe 2 games he was prominent last year. And even if he's not meant to be prominent, he misses too many tackles and makes more errors than you'd expect from someone who's meant to be a hard-working back-row leader

Yeah, I keep hearing that he does a lot that the casual fan doesn't appreciate and I guess that makes me a really casual fan.

Seemed awful on defence last night.

Michael Luck he ain't.
Luck was a leader, no mistake. Capewell's not, he's obviously a good player, but I think we can conclude he's most effective when he's the worst player in the pack (he lifts around high quality)... that is not the case when it's not Penrith, Qld, or the Broncos

I remember someone, I think Gould but might not have been, saying Queensland missed Capewell immensely when he wasn't there. Gould is a troll from way back though, he could have been goofing.

I just don't see it. I'm not a casual fan, I'm not a league guy in terms of knowing the deeper intricacies of the game though... but gee it must be some real hidden stuff we aren't seeing. Doesn't hit holes hard, misses too many tackles, drops too many balls, and really you can go weeks without thinking he had a big game

Kosi put in a lot of effort. He just isn't very good.
I didn’t see it. When Montoya or Dallin make a mistake (hell even when they don’t), next carry they’re charging it up full speed into the defence. Kosi is a big unit but he doesn’t hit it up with any venom, he just jogs into the tackle. Plus his hands are average, his positioning is average and he’s slow (he got absolutely burned by Katoa in the leadup to the bombed sharks no-try).

Thought our forwards largely went well. Had no trouble making metres up the middle and defence was mostly solid. Agree on Capewell being nothing special though.
thought Metcalf and TMM went alright. Pompey’s timing was off with his passing game. Leiataua didn’t seem to get much ball in space but he’s all physicality when he hits it up and in defence.
CNK was typical CNK quality. Dallin looked sharp before the injury. Taupiki needs to be in the side, he creates and finishes chances, plus he can kick.
good to see Cleary get a shot, clearly needs work yet but wasn’t overawed.
Kosi is mud.

Agreed, I'm definitely in the FO Kosi club.
