Might be just me but this SJ dude seems to have a history of sustaining seemingly what are compensation injuries.

I am wondering how well rehabbed his Achilles was.

Did it running at a medium pace...
Feel like I’m less likely to break then he is.

SJ is gone. I haven't seen him in full flight since he signed. Pretty sad really.

Maybe he plays 7 and directs play, as he still has a great pass and kick and an understanding for the game.

Then Tracey maybe plays the running game at 6, or Moylan who has had his best year for us...

How the hell did we end up with both SJ and Moyza? They are the same "enigmatic" half, both on a motza and same contract periods. Moyza was recruited as a 6, we had to shift him to fullback out of necessity but that was never realistic in the long term.

If they are ever fit at the same time, just chuck them together and make them earn their keep. Then pick the best one.

How many games have they actually played together? Less than 5 I imagine.

Because Val f*cked off to fail at NFL and Flanno felt the need to fill that void with another marquee player regardless of whether it worked for the team or not.

Similar to what he did when Bird left and he got Dugan.

If he took a breathe and didn't rush to fill that void we wouldn't be in the cap position we're in now.

Thanks Flanno

Flanno thinking that he had to use the money they had set aside for Holmes so bought SJ at his asking price a dn shifted Moyza to the back.
Moyza and Chad had actually worked fairly well together as 6 and 7 in 2018.

Edit: in other words, what Tiger said.

Probably would have worked ok if they both didn’t spend so much time injured.

Yeah definitely maybe, they did win a few games when they were in the side together.
I was disappointed when SJ was ruled out last week as I'd been let known that they were going to have all 3 (CT, SJ,MM) on the field at the same time, and to let it play out, just like they did with Trindall coming on. He, Trindall, played a very good role, he has a better kicking game than Moyza, but Moyza can play the more instinctive game that has become required.

The other one was Ramien, when we already had Duges, JMoz and Xerri. Im sure the cash could have gone somewhere useful

don't think that's entirely correct.
moolah wasn't bought as a replacement for Holmes.
he was bought as our 6 in a swap deal.
Holmes situation hadn't played out yet.

Does anyone think that SJ can transform himself into an organising half back? He already has a decent kicking game.
I know Benji has somewhat been able to to do that, but I do think that Benji is a smarter player than SJ.

It's defn possible, he was becoming that more game managing style player last year as he wasn't that running half he used to be.

I'd be OK with a Johnson/Trindal pairing next year. Be nice to have two halves with a decent boot.

The Benji comparison is fair as both were explosive runners with acceleration as footwork as primary weapons.

SJs acceleration is gone. It was gone before the achilles injury. He has a good kicking game, good passing range but drifts way too much to be a reliable game manager. At heart, he is an individual player not someone to drive a team.

Benji has modified his game since he lost his legs. He looks good in a good side in a cameo role.

I am ok with letting SJ go if he wants big coin. He ain't worth it. Great highlight reel but no trophies.

SJ is a unbelievable touch footballer.
Elite.
Freak.

He was a wunderkind of NZ rugby league.
He aint got what it takes to get a team to beat the likes of melbourne storm in a big one.
He is a great player he just lacks that toughness to balance the brilliance.
Munster.
Slater.
Johns.
Lockyer.
Etc.

Brilliant. And tough.
Riccio in the podcast said he tears them shreds at training.
Untouchable.

Yet on a saturday afternoon the SJ everyone sees has anxiety.
That comment from Riccio said it for me.

Happy to see him go to the broncs

Trindall is a 9.
Stocky. Little dart. Good pace. Good pass. Good defence. Kicking game.

Danny Buderus thought he was a halfback as he came through the grades. Played there allhis life. His option to play first grade at the knights with andrew johns at 7 was hooker. The rest is history.
Micheal Ennis played plenty of games at the Broncos at 7 to keep his spot in first grade.

Trindalls not an NRL 7. Hes a 9.
