defended pearson on the other thread .. but it is not easy to do so ...

If we are deciding that Lafai/Aitken are out and they need to be now then the best backline to me would be

1. Sailor
2. Pearson
3. Lomax (R)
4. Ravalawa (L)
5. Saab

It is very green and could be improeved with better recruitment.

I think Lomax top end speed means centre over fullback .. just doesnt have the explosiveness of the likes of Teddy/Trbo

However both Lomax and Rava have a brain and footy instincts ...

I doubt Sailor stays though .. His dad would know enough to realise how poor the future with us would be.

Those wingers are both very tall and good under the high ball .. We need to kick for them but not from their side of the field ... cross field to them. It is harder for blockers to judge where the ball is coming down and angled jump receives are a lot easier on a cross field bomb than one like the Norman to Pearson kick on Friday.

Pearson is not fg and to put him ahead of jp is beyond me think in time we will see anyone take over Pearson don’t rate him and the more I see of him the less I want too
Pearson had a bad game or two and so did JP. The difference is Pearson has size and speed over JP. Hopefully in time Pearson will end up being a top grade winger. He has the rest of the season to prove himself as whether we win or not is not a concern this year, our season is finished.

Same as above reasons for playing Sailor at left centre, Ravalawa at right centre and Saab on the right wing. We need a change and we need to see what we have in talent leading up to next season.

All of the above a good young prospects and we do need to change things for 2020. Lafai, Aitken, Dufty, Field, Maranta, Runciman, Allgood, Latimore all need to be moved on. Robson, Timm, Widdop and Masters are apparently moving on. So there should be plenty of cap space to refresh the first grade side.

My advice is to find first graders to fill the top 17 spots for 2020 and then backfill the reserve grade side with our best juniors and marginal first graders with potential to improve. Not donkeys who are at the end of their career.

If Gould is not available, I would like to see a ruthless hard task master first grade coach who has at least brought an NRL team to a grand final. Let him pick is own staff in consultation with the CEO however, the number one criteria for this coach should be to get the best out of his paying squad each game.

Speed and size but jp always had heart and power and is no slow poke at all yes he had a few bad games but I would prefer him over Pearson

Interesting this comparing of the two JP's.
Pearson is listed at 184cm
Periera is listed at 182cm

That's 2cm, I repeat 2cm height difference which is not even an inch.

Pearson is listed at 95kg
Periera is listed at 97kg

That's 2kg difference, again not that much difference.

So, as far as "size" there is really very little difference between the 2.

I haven't seen anything of Pearson to say he has speed. Probably has given his u-tube highlights but its surely lacking atm.
Periera has more tackle breaks than any other Dragons player with 64 from 11 games. Rava, as a comparison has 47 from 16 games.

Periera probably said to Mary to go and get fitted at training one day

DS,
Would prefer Widdop holds off another week to assist in the demise of the current clip board holder.
We've come this far, don't want any hiccups to slow the process.

The biggest defensive liabilities in our backline are Pearson and Ravalawa closely followed by Aitken. At least Rav and Aitken show glimpses in attack. Pearson has nothing whatsoever. I’d be looking to bring in Sailor for Pearson. He is by far the biggest liability in our backline.

Just compared Tristian and Dufts profile. Tristian 177cm tall and Dufty 179cm and 3kg lighter than Duft. So at 21 will he grow into our next NRL fullback. Need a growth spurt. Maybe a 5/8.

Yes- a couple of years ago, we recruited a whole bunch of talented backline midgets-Dufty, Pereira, Sailor, Patrick Herbert to name but a few- just when it was becoming bleeding obvious to everyone else but Millward that height was becoming a valuable commodity- particularly for back 3 positions due to the constant bombing on the 6th tackle.

The penny has finally dropped and tall players like Saab, Ravalawa and Lomax are being promoted. Sailor will have to join the queue of players (Field and - if I had my way- Dufty) for a halves position.

Finally, I've already posted that I think it's a shame that Adam Clune doesn't want to play NRL- what a waste of a talent- his passing game is outstanding.

The coach we have this year will be here next year. There is no need to look for a coach

Is Periera still injured? because he hasn't been playing reserves, Dufty and Pearson have been playing wing, I watched Dufty play in the centres the other day and he actually looked pretty good.

Son of a gun: Tristan Sailor scores on debut as Wendell watches on

Wendell Sailor scored 127 tries in the NRL.

Now his son, Tristan, has just 126 tries to go before he catches the old man.

The teenage Dragons junior crossed the white stripe in his NRL debut at Kogarah on Saturday night.

He was called into the starting side when superstar Ben Hunt was ruled out pre-game.

Sailor was named in the halves but played at fullback, and looked like he belonged in the arena from the very start.

He had earlier been presented with his debut jersey by St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor.

Wendell - the dual-code international legend winger - stood quietly to the side and cheered on his sonduring the presentation.

Wendell was delighted when Tristan darted through a bunch of Roosters defenders and found his way to the tryline midway through the second half for the Red V’s first try.

Wendell played 33 games for the Dragons in 2008 and 2009.

By all reports, his son Tristan has a long career of his own ahead of him.
