Voges only needs 172* in the next test to have a test average of 100.

This in the day of the professional cricketer and only 90 overs per day.

Incredible stuff.

I'm not so sure. I think RSA may run away with this even without Philander.

Hales as a test batsman? Going back to Compton. Playing a batting allrounder like Stokes instead of a proper batsman? Stokes averages 28 with the bat and 40 with the ball. They appear out of batsman since Ballance failed and Bell had to be dropped. They were playing Bairstow as a specialist bat at one point with Jos Buttler keeping.

Ali is doing nothing with the ball and his average with theball is 45 for the year - including a UAE tour where Shah shined.

Nopes, losing a test series to England in 2015 is pretty shameful.

Lords England v NZ still pisses me off - but England outside Anderson, Broad (and these two are far superior at home than away), Cook and Root is fragile. Taylor may be the goods. But there are a lot of weak links.

Bullshit KP does not walk straight back into that team on merit, form and ability.

When did KP suddenly become poison? Because he's always been a egomaniac superstar.

Swann, Matt Prior and Broad to him are the absolute poison. But Broady is seen as more important? Jimmy will retire soon - and Broad has to be kept happy as the only pom who can bowl a seam delivery at the moment?

I listened to Swann's KP impersonation - it was rather cutting. He has a mean streak for KP.

I was not criticisng you for your assessment of Compton - I am merely saying it displays how weak England is that there is a merry go round in the middle and top orders. Only Cook and Root are settled. Same with Broad and Anderson. Every single other spot is up for grabs. Jos Buttler was meant to be the next big thing. Now its back to Bairstow (who's doing okay).

I am just saying I think England is rather weak at the moment. Ali is not a match winner. And their batting bar Cook and Root is weak - leaving Broad and Anderson to win games - who are much better at home with a duke and cloud cover than away on roads.

And Stokes is ridiculously overrated on "potential". He's an occasional lucky slogger and he cannot bowl a length.
