Finished the first 2. Really good start. I went into this reading it was character driven and very slow, but i didnt find it slow at all. Love it already.

The detectives in 2012 think he is the killer either because they are poor at their jobs or they are using it as an angle to get some other information. I think it's the former.

He popped his head up to f**k with the detectives and see what they had, The Yellow King's cult supposedly has "big people" covering it up and this is where the plot is steering towards.

Have this lined up to to watch once I get through House of Cards, can't wait.

At least House of Cards came out all at once, now I can binge watch it until episode 6 comes out :p

I'm only 4 episodes in and have never been this gripped by a show before. On track to be the GOAT tv show imo.

Yeah I've been gripped by every moment of the show. Other shows such as Breaking Bad had me tune out often (especially the Skyler scenes). Maybe it's because the acting has been on a different level compared to all other shows.

I wouldn't rule out Hart being involved in some way...

Thinking back through all of his actions with him in mind as a suspect, it seems plausible to me.

Was thinking this myself, agree with everyone it is just an outstanding show. Gets better by the episode.

The past two episodes have just blown me away with the quality of acting/writing/directing/you-name-it.

As is always the case with these shows that are centred around some kind of mystery, whether they stick the landing with a strong ending is going to be the major determining factor in how "great" this season is seen as.

In a recent interview the creator seems extremely confident that if you liked what they've done so far, you'll like how it ends.

The whole comparing to BB is a little harsh imo, They are completely different shows.

BB needed the 62 eps, the skyler scenes, the walt jr scenes, etc to build tension and slowly show the family man go from hero to villian. It just wouldnt have worked with 8 episode seasons.

True Detective is also based on two detectives working one single case. in saying that, the pacing so far feels perfect. The acting is astonishing, truly. McConaughey has me reeled me and Harrelson is going toe to toe with him.

This is how TV should be done, and should have been done for a long time.

Just did a 5 episode binge and I love it. The tone of the series constantly evolves and feels completely different to opening few episodes. Really keen for 6.

Happen to notice that Hart's youngest daughter is Lizzie from The Walking Dead. Must have a good agent.

The intensity of those final 10 minutes reminded of a few moments in The Wire, mainly when Kima goes undercover.

Il watch that one day. I have this, then Game of Thrones from the start to watch(not really keen on). Also on the list is the Sopranos.

But that 'one shot' scene was amazing. Im addicted.

As people have suggested, if the final 3 episodes are as strong and enthralling as the first 5 then it will go down as the second greatest show I've ever seen behind The Wire.

I'm not sure anything can ever surpass The Wire, Seasons 1-4, particularly Season 4, but True Detective is remarkable and unique in its own right.

The acting has been amazing, but I'm not sure who the biggest star is - Harrelson, McConaughey, or the state of Louisiana.

This will be a weird comparison, but one of my favourite movies ever is Predator because of the way it dragged me into the jungle.

And the director has done a similar job here of just dragging you through the screen, like I can almost feel the humidity and the grungy underworld of the backwaters of Louisiana.

I mean the scene at the end of episode 2? where we see LeDoux just walking through the Bayou with his gas mask on, played to the atmospheric music - just f**king unreal.

Are McConaughey and Harrelson going to be in season 2? Heard they're only signed for 1 season

I might be wrong but I think what they said is that it will be always 8 seasons, and a new story every year with big name actors rotating the starring roles.

Rumours around are season 2 will be Jude Law & Scarlet Johnanneson
