Tui to wing

Don't like it TBH. His lack of height is an issue under the high ball.

I was thinking nah he isn't short and can learn better high ball skills...but then googled...he is 177cm, same height as me and despite my superior athleticism your on a hiding to nothing competing against 6ft plus units who can jump...I think this is going to be an ugly ugly season. Hope I am wrong.

He's being crowded out and I'm not really sure who is to blame.

Anyway, his height is an issue- but I do hope he makes a go of it. He has played some good football on the wing.

If they put him there, I hope they leave him there..

There's been some good shortarse wingers.. El Masri. .Matty utai to name just 2 off the top of my head.

Keeps Ken out for the time being, would have thought Fus would be our other winger with Tui covering both wing and center for injuries etc .

At 177 he's not Matt Utai short, just fairly average. Realistically it's probably the best spot for him now, he's about 4 spots down the pecking order in the centres after Kata, Ayshford and Fus and we have less depth on the wing, after than Manu and Fus who else do we have?

Really needs to show more consistency before he makes demands on the coach.

Agree with that but the consistency has to go both ways..

Chopping and changing won't do it..

Still, losing Wright doesn't actually improve our wing depth. I count three decent options there- Vatuvei (if fit), Tui (if confident) and Fus (if not required in the centres). That's precious little depth.

Yeah, I would've like us to make a play for JTS when the Roosters took ages to re-sign him (and even then I think it was only a 1yr tier 2 deal - and he's behind loads of players there for first grade). Wouldn't have cost much, looks like he could become a decent option.

Tom Carr took ages to get a contract (again, tier 2) also... he might go alright if given a shot at the Dogs. Dunno why the Dragons froze him out, he looked good and they were playing centres on the wing last year (but then, it's McGregor...).

Potential quality cheapies like that are all I'd look at for wing spots. Too much money for not enough impact otherwise.

I just thought before I hit post - perhaps CNZ could be developed as a winger. Could be a handy little one... but needs to actually play there and stay there, rather than get shifted around every week like last year (and like Tui in the back half of last year in NRL).

Stupid call really, his two biggest weaknesses are defensive positioning and handling the high ball.

But on the bright side it surely means Maumalo is out of there.

I think it's less about it being his best position as. Wing where we need over and where he can have an opportunity.
