On paper, Ben Hunt and Anthony Milford don't look like they would complement each other and they struggled somewhat at the beginning of the year. Look at them know... Their combination is on fire. This is their first year together as well.

Don't underestimated the value of what a guy like Kevvie Walters had had to do with this. The Broncos staff have found a way to make it work with 2 quality players.

There's the key difference, we still haven't found a way with Benji and Widdop.

Agree with this...if only there was a recently available experienced coach who had a good track record with his team and doesn't want to leave the coaching game that we could grab as an assistant/attacking coach...maybe someone who has taken teams to semi and grand finals...would also be cool if he played in the halves, that could help...hmm, anyone fit the bill?

I was impressed with Robert Lui when Saints played the Cowboys. He totally outplayed Widdop. If Saints lose Widdop I would go for Lui as he is unwanted at the Cowboys and he has played with Benji. He would be a good cheap option.

Last game they played together in the halves they lost to the Dragons in the 2010 finals series to a Soward field goal. 1 point from steering the Tigers to the Grand Final. Proven record these 2 that they can play well together.

I'll say it again.

We need to make it work with Benji, Widdop and Dugan. They are all elite players and we can't be stuffing around starting from scratch with yet another halves combination.

If changes need to be made, its with the coaching staff that directs the attack, not the players.

On what basis do you call Widdop an elite player? I have never seen him, at Melbourne or the Dragons, show any kind of consistent form to suggest he is anything more than an 'honest toiler' who tries his guts out but lacks ability.

I know he was one of Price's 'marquee signings' but so was Beale. I'm sure the coaches are telling the 3 of them and Rein what they want them to do but somewhere along the line the players aren't willing or able to do it. No secret where I think the weak link is.

Mate his resume speaks for itself.

Premiership winner, international and 3rd in Dally M medal last year. Put it this way, the Storm haven't come close to winning a comp since he left, even with their big 3.

If you can find another 5/8 with those credentials who's available, I'd love you to name him (and please don't say Kyle Stanley like you said elsewhere).

I would be looking for a halfback from within or at Kurt Mann. I suspect and hope that is why he was he was recruited. Or even as was suggested above, Robert Lui. I don't like women beaters anymore than anyone else but he has paid the price and (hopefully) won't do it again.

Didn't Dane Neilsen have the similar resume instead of International he had played in a winning Origin side. NOt sure how he went in the Daly M's. Blake Green looks good playing at the Storm next to Cronk and he was rubbish before he went to England.

Benji has a far better resume than that and still gets bagged by some here.

Widdop is good but for him to even consider going to England shows his heart is not in it anymore at the Saints. If that is true of course that he is considering England.

Looking at his form since the rumour has come about it could be. Would rather he stay but only if he wanted to.

+1
when you look at our spine this season (Rein the exeption) a lot of other clubs would be very envious of the talent.... i would expect more qualified coaching staff could generate a better outcome.
