Twiggys with us

Whilst we acknowledge the game changing news Twiggy's investment in the Dragons represents, we can't go without mentioning the Humpback in the Tasman. That is the proposal to build wind turbines offshore. Local's failure to embrace this proposal (expect some protests) could put the Dragons in a tricky position.

Wow we've made the illustrious pages of the... BNN?

It's great we've landed a sponsor on big money to replace St George Bank, but let's not pretend we've got a benevolent Russell Crowe type on board here who's going to get us winning grand finals and on Oprah. Forrest is in this for his own political and business reasons in the Illawarra.

There is no such thing as a good billionaire

Hi Victoire

Yes I agree that Forrest would have business reasons in the Illawarra with his Renewable Energy projects. As he is the owner of the Squadron Energy set up he is willing to have that part of his business to sponsor the club and that would mean advertising etc. The difference between Crowe and Forrest is that Crowe loves the Bunnies and has part ownership of the club but doesn't sponsor the club as such while Forrest's Squadron Energy will just be sponsors and like any sponsor it is for business.

I'm just glad that we will have a significant sponsor to take over from St George Bank in 2025. How this translates to politics I don't know?

The Billionaires of this world are in it for themselves in many ways but many are good. Several are Philanthropists and donate millions to help others in need. I for one would help as much as possible if I was a billionaire but I would still want things my way.

As I have said, having Forrest take an interest in our club when we need more support I am so happy with.

I don’t think they are Twiggys wind turbines planned for off Wollongong though

Bring it on I say. This is the most positive news we've had in years. As has already been posted, I know what our feelings would be if another club had the same opportunity. All I want is for my club to be the powerhouse team it could and should be. I wasn't around during our golden reign in the 60's of eleven straight title wins, but how I'd just love to sample a bit of that before I'm planted in the ground.

If all that happens is Twiggy's presence allows us to compete in the TPA market then I'm happy with that. Yes his sponsorship is no doubt about business as well, but I put it to this forum just in the matter of days that this news has come out, how has it compared to our other billionaire and the effect he has on this club. That guy has NO interest in the Dragons whereas I do believe that Twiggy will at least show some support as he did with the western force. Where it ends up in the future, who knows but for the time being I'm more than happy that the Dragons are now at least talked about making positive moves and seen in a better light, even by the NRL head Honcho's.

Us oldies are waiting with bated breath for the club's fortunes to turn around after the debacle and devastating lean periods of the past 11-12 years. A premiership win by the Dragons before my time is up would be wondrous and to all of you other fans.

Keen to see the likes of Moses Suli, Ben Hunt, Blake Lawrie sprucing renewable energy. Put em next to a windmill & you're all set. Also lowkey surprised how the Dragons haven't managed to cock this up yet...
Maybe they have worked it out but on the other hand....give it time. They cannot afford to cock this up so I'm waiting for confirmation that it is a done deal.
