I'm not fawning over the person , I'm fawning over his business smarts, I dont begrudge anyone making money and becoming a billionaire, good luck to him. If he has done so in unscrupulous ways, then he has to live with that and it may catch up with him. But this is a business deal and has the capacity to help the Dragons immensely which is what we need and have needed for a long time. I mean you have the Murdochs, Packers , Reinhart, the guy who won the Americas cup. I probably wont ever meet the guy personally and I may not even like him, but anything that helps my beloved club to at least compete with the elite business savvy teams, then welcome welcome welcome.

This !

How do you feel about signing a new head coach who was suspended once for the good ol supplements scandal and then again, deregistered as a coach a few years later?

I find that hypocrisy nauseating. But hey, you do you.
Love a false equivalence. Since you asked, I actually did have reservations about Flanagan, but some fellow Dragon fans swayed me by arguing that served the punishment - it's not like he was deregistered for life, after all. A case could even be made that the hardship and the lessons learnt may have made him a better coach. Not comparable at all to the ransacking billionaire. Nice try though

I do agree with some of your comments, but can I remind you that the Dragons were not the prettiest club on the block. With our culture and reputation over the last several years, we wouldn't been a good look to any sponsor, the only thing holding this whole deal together would have been our brand name and of course the districts we operate out of, yes agree a purely political and motivated move by Twiggy, he still took a risk on associating his brand with ours atm, we provide him exposure he provides us cash, and maybe a more positive way for our administrators to conduct themselves in the sports corporate world, for that I am grateful.

Cute, but I'm calling BS.

He wasn't deregistered for life But you know he came back early yeah ? Didnt answer me about the peptides scandal either.

On 19 December 2018, Flanagan was de-registered as a coach indefinitely for failing to adhere to the conditions of his suspension in 2014. The NRL integrity unit had found that Flanagan had sent more than fifty emails exchanged between Flanagan, club management, and the football department which was strictly against the conditions of his suspension which included that Flanagan was to have no contact or involvement with the club during his ban. The NRL also fined Cronulla $800,000 as punishment.[16]

On 20 September 2019, it was announced that Flanagan was allowed to return to the NRL but under strict conditions. He was still unable to hold a head coaching role at any club until 2022 but was allowed to return as an assistant coach.[17] He joined his junior club the St. George Illawarra Dragons as an assistant coach to Paul McGregor beginning in the 2020 NRL season.[7] Flanagan's role is specifically focused on defence. Flanagan was the most important of one of 8 coaching changes at the Dragons following a dismal 2019.[18][19][20]

Spare me your condescending crap.

I am glad our Club "may:" have secured sponsorship via a wealthy entity, which should be part and parcel of their job. Financial sustainability.

We the taxpayers are the ones pumping in the money SnowDragon, we make sure these borderline projects get going by subsidising them to the hilt and making them a no risk investment for leaches with money to clean. Thats what silly initiatives like nett zero are (apart from fantasy). In the meantime hundreds of 300m high wind turbines (dark ages technology the size of Centrepoint Tower) are being proposed for positioning 10km off the Illawarra coastline, with their undoubted negative impact on precious marine life and whale migratory paths,...as well as on the lives of the residents of the Illawarra. This is a political move for money, they all are.
Can't believe I'm responding to this on a Dragons forum, but I'm a fact checker
Regarding Ocean wind turbine sites (They have only been around 30 years)
“The global offshore wind sector has undergone rapid expansion in recent years with major advances in technology and cost reductions, making offshore wind an increasingly competitive option for large scale energy generation”.
So far, the noise health effects of wind turbines on humans has been debunked. (You don't hear the BS on the news anymore)
“Since 2003, 25 reviews have been published of the scientific literature (not Donald Trump) on wind turbines and health. These studies have consistently found no reason to believe that wind turbines are harmful to health.”
If you look out from the shore, how far can you see on the open ocean? If you're not standing on anything (say 2 meters high), you can see about 5 km.
How the hell can wind turbines 10Km off shore affect residents?

There may be negative affect on marine life during construction and, if not regularity maintained there could be a risk of oil leaks. I am also sure the whales can swim around them without any major migration consequences.

Anyway - This won't change your opinion but I feel better!

Maybe some of the sceptics re this sponsorship should come forward with alternatives to replace St George Bank.

I'll wait. Then let's put the moral/ethical microscope on them.
I agree. You dont get rich at that level without being cut throat, business smarts and taking a punt on things even if you have to step over a few people on the way, who want or who are destined to be left behind.
Even break the law. All rich people have done things not so savory to get to where they are. Its us who are conservative in a good way are left behind. But talk about ethics..what about banks and their CEO's..please

Meanwhile at the Dragons living in the past and hoping our 1950-60's era and loyal world wide supporters love will keep us as a powerhouse 100 years later wondering where did all go wrong and why we were left behind.
It may not turn out as a good thing for some loyal fans...but we have to try and keep up and who knows where it may take us.

There are several ways to skin a cat - the right way, the wrong way or my way.

Business ventures are cut throat. It's either you or me. You either sink or swim. Never give a sucker an even break. You win some and you lose some. You have got to be tough to succeed. Survival of the fittest, etc.

The Dragons have lived by the rules as far as I can tell. They want to be seen to be running an honest business. I say that they should bend a few.

A good deal less harmful to whales than underwater detonations used in gas and oil exploration.

You are 100% correct and I have a second half that dealt with Whale deaths and climate change.
I decided I got my point across, and further information would have no effect on the individual who posted.

In this age where information is at your fingertips, I can’t understand how dis and mis information becomes fact in some people’s minds.

In 2020 I was shocked when a mate of mine became an Anti Vaxxer. (Some people do have legitimate concerns) He refused to acknowledge any information because ‘I don’t trust mainstream media’. The next minute he’s posting some video of a mental midget, from the back of Bum F*** Idaho, claiming his penis shrunk after receiving the Vaccine. Well, you gotta trust that.
I’m still his mate but we have agreed not to discuss any social/political issue.
I fear for future society, more so for my son than myself.
Another rant from me – sorry all.

I am however, thrilled to have Andrew Forrester as a major sponsor of the mighty Dragons

Nick Politis is a car salesman and EVERY roosters supporter loves him. I couldn't give a flying fxxx what Twiggy has done to get wealthy. The last decade has shown that you cannot compete with the Brisbanes, Storms, Roosters, Bunnies, etc, unless you are prepared to bend the rules, deal & negotiate with smarts, be prepared to not leave any stone unturned in search of an advantage. Basically, ruthlessness, passion and loads of intelligience ............. and make out of the box deals to win players signatures.

At least you know he’s not looking for an excuse for his small dick.
