Because he could have demonstrated with a skilled barrister that the victims were not perturbed in the slightest until the material became viral. The recording of it wasn't a problem but the posting online was, otherwise they'd have gone to the cops long before it appeared online.

For a normal average bloke, community service is a good trade off to put something like this into the past. But being an NRL player is different, It didn't put it in the past at all and it's still being rehashed ad nauseum, and now its about to cost him his livelihood. The lawyer advising him should have considered this.

So why did he plead guilty? To protect others who might have been implicated in a trial I would suggest. No idea who those others were and wouldn't even speculate here.

Tyrone May’s barrister was Richard Pontello, a very well known attorney. He’s not just any old barrister, he’s a senior counsel. If he was recommending a guilty plea that was very likely the best option.

The victim had a human and legal right to privacy in sexual acts as all people do.

Now she said she feels paranoid when she goes out.

She’s entitled to present to people on her terms and how she wants to be seen.

May wrecked that for her forever and then resurrected it because he was proud of himself for winning a grand final.

Well I’m sorry, that doesn’t cut it.

No public apology, no public remorse, no public conscience.

That the club is still considering its association with him is already pushing the boundaries. Due process I guess. Not that the victim got a chance to injunct the tape being distributed and being watched by thousands of deadbeats, perverts and sickos all around the world on a forever basis.

Stories of sponsors ready to walk out and once they do, others are likely to follow.

This is one of the most important decisions in the clubs history.

I would have thought the opposite, the distribution or publishing such videos in a public domain is actually worse.

If a person chose to film ones sexual exploits with another, without there consent, but kept the video to themselves only for there own viewing or pleasure how could that possibly be worse. No one other that the person who took the video is aware of its existence.

I was comparing it to something filmed with consent, which was later leaked to the public.

If something was leaked to the public that was filmed without consent, that’s even worse.

Would have been too, had he not posted song lyrics on social media.

In other news, what was your favourite moment from the finals series? Some on here can’t go past the amazing kick from Cleary Jr to Critta in the Prelim (what coaching), albeit my favourite was seeing Family Man Ivan embrace his son after he outcoached old Clint to win his first grand final. Must have brought a tear to even your eye Justin.

Tigers fans and players cheered when he knocked out Ryan Matterson and he was struggling to stand afterwards.

Most of them don't care about a persons well-being. Only seeing anyone they feel wronged them suffer.

No issue with them hating on May. Except the real reason they hate him is because Ivan likes him and is his coach. They don't care about the crime May committed.

That’s a bizarre and illogical
submission. Almost as good as the conspiracy theory that the club wanted to sack him as lamb chop mused.

Even the most ardent of Ivans detractors could not cast blame upon Ivan for Mays post.

Ivan is disliked for breaking his commitment to the West Tigers, for signing duds etc.

He was most likely the last person on earth who wanted to see May in the trouble hes in.

Ivan enters this particular fracas with clean hands.
