Pretty poor conduct or behaviour whatever you want to call it.

I know his actions weren’t criminal, his wife may differ, but pretty serious misconduct and probably much worse that an alcohol induced social media post gone wrong.

We’ve discussed this already. Apisai was fined and suspended, that was appropriate. If he does more things in the future then those will add up, just like it has for May. Tyrone May isn’t being judged on this situation alone.

They have reacted, though. The show cause notice means they’ve decided he breached the conditions of his contract, it will take May to convince them he hasn’t. It’s effectively an appeal against a decision.

So I guess they've consulted legal eagles on the employment law aspect of this, just as Rugby Australia obviously didn't before getting burned by Folou.

I think everyone from the club, players and our fans understands what he did resulting in his criminal conviction was wrong.

No one condones or defends such actions, but they were lesser offences able to be dealt with by a Magistrate in the local court. The upper end of the severity of criminality is dealt with by a higher court, District Court to start with. His offences weren’t at that level even if abhorrent In the court of public opinion.

The Judge said he was lucky to escape a term in prison. Obviously a minor offense. No big deal.

You’re conflating two seperate issues. The Tyrone May situation stands on its own.

Filming ones sexual exploits is common place in today’s world. Not just restricted to the younger generation either. It’s just the world we live in, in most instances such activity is consensual.

Except in this case it wasn't consensual to film it and definitely not to share it around for laughs. Take the Morrison test, would this have been ok with you if it was your daughter or sister?

I'm leaning towards this as well.

The media has blown the incident out of all proportion. To those that say it's not about his life journey to this point because of the court photo need to take a breath. In what universe is a major event like that not part of the journey? It's a piece of his puzzle, not a dig at his victim or his conviction.

It wasn't well thought out at all and he shouldn't have posted it. Not because he is a merkin for feeling the way he did when he posted it, but because the Helen Lovejoys are out of control.

If he were to be let go then it should have happened 2 years ago. To be rissoled over that tweet is pretty harsh imo.

In saying all that I think a year or so out of the spotlight would be the best thing for him. With the club coming out and explaining the tweet, making a statement about the terrible form of the media sensationalising the whole thing.

It shouldn't bother you if they have to pay him a settlement. They paid Hook a settlement, and they paid Gus a settlement. The courts in almost all cases won't make an employer re-employ someone they've already sacked. Maybe they will pay him out anyway without the need for court, at least in part. It would be hard to demonstrate that a social media post of some song lyrics was grounds for dismissal after all. A reasonable barrister would tie them in knots.

Magistrates wave the big finger every time before hitting the defendant with a feather duster. Every day, in every court across our country. The courts fail day in, day out to keep real criminals locked up, May was never going to jail, nor should he have.
