No.

One of the best bands of the past 20 odd years though. Not in my top 5 but they're not bad at all.

in some people opinions they may not be the best band in the world. I think they are one of the best, they're in my top 3 fave bands of all time :lol:

but in the 20 odd years of them being around, they have done a bloody great job. They never had a change of lineup, they went through the ups and downs you can get in the music industry quite well. And also throughout the 20 years they have stayed very well known and popular, whereas other bands who have been around for almost as long have had line up changes, didnt quite make it through difficult stages. And most of all the other bands who've faded away made people saying "Do you remember that band who......."

whereas U2 have been the same (apart from the sound of their music, but every band experiments)

everyone i know says that TJT is U2's best album

i cant really comment as ive only heard about 5 songs from it. Does the 1980-1990 best of count :lol:

I think I understand what you are asking me.....

In terms of combining mainstream rock with meaningful lyrics, none has done it better. They have remained relevant for 20yrs...tell me how many bands have done that?

Most mainstream rock bands have crap lyrics. Live with it. Their ability to combine the two was revolutionary at the time for mine. Their sound in the mid80s was so far ahead of their time
