gees the 20s are average...so many dumb things. not getting a kick away on the 5th, shameful tackling, kicking the ball dead, cant kick a goal.

too be honest, i think theres two many islanders in the team. well known to get lazy and not so committed in defence, not committed at all really

Sean Scott's 5th tackle options are terrible.

Time for Ackland to step up.

Well I dont fully agree with your comments
However you have highlighted a good point.

Theres no doubt both Bell and Iro (who have shaped this squad over the years) have a thing for big strapping islanders.
Considering Bell has spent 20 yrs in england - he would naturally be attracted to the athleticsm.

Players like Niko, likiliki , fast but severly limited skill at this stage IMO.

I dont agree with blokes with Niko being selected they are one dimensional lack skill etc. However its seems at least he is slowly developing.

Also i am sure they dominated at junior level - blokes like palavi bros and ikahihifo are quite unorthodox players. No real set position or typical skillsets.

Importantly however they need to put smart players in those key positions to guide them around the field and to put them into holes.

I.E THEY NEED DIRECTION

I couldnt stand Shaun Johnson at first - I will put my hand up.
Scott is overated and is a poor mans shaun johnson - every play is for himself. Dont need glory chasing halves.

Infact alot of the boys look like they are playing for themselves. Perhaps a side-effect from carrying such as large squad.

Tuimavave one of the more naturally skillful players in the squad but not a genuine half options at this level imo.
Should be given a gig at fullback some stage - better than the afghan imo looked like a rugby player.
Carlos is strong, athletic but with decent ballplaying ability. A bit of agressions still only young though.

Lack of direction also applies to hooker role. Nobody has put their hand-up at all.
Probably half the reason the pack has look so disjointed on both attack and defense.
Some of the props have no idea whats going on.

A side note does anybody no whats going on with all the glenora boys who have been in the squad past two years.
They all got selected on back of a continual dominant junior side but dont any have played yet - out of favour??

Perhaps one of the biggest issues is immobile forward pack.
Seriously whilst grubb has improved on attack both him and ioane seem to be to immobile and unfit for NYC. Big shift from Fox or junior club level.
Perhaps need time to adjust - but they should of been the ones given a rest this week.

Neecrom and Beau King are best prop options. Both have played senior club footy for years but cannot only but also get around the park better.
King used to back up from NYC and play play fox next day.
Neecrom played 80 minutes at prop in the Fox grading round.

Also like Makatoa of the bench at either prop or second row - not big but plays with speed and runs / tackle hard. Everybody needs players lke this.

I dont agree with everybody bagging the coach he inherited this squad.
Previous coach had a massive buildup of players with plenty of rep/senior footy and bartercard experience.
Now warriors are trying to scout young and younger - perhaps they need to be more flexible since seem to be more hit and miss lately.
Some bloke been in squad for years never got a game??
Carry a smaller squad and pick players who are showing current form - not from two or three years ago.

Kingi, Te Pou and Gibson having been playing prems for the Bears. Don't know where Hannam is playing now. Suá Poe has had a full knee reco and has just come back, he might've played a reserves game yesterday. He had 3 NYC games off the bench last year. Te Pou has let himself get well out of shape and his speed is too far down for centre. Feki blows him off the park for off the mark speed and atitude. He should've stayed at Parra and played SG Ball this year, he would've had to pull finger or be sent back. Gibson is underrated, I'd have him there ahead of Carlos, he's been playing at a higher level consistantly and winning comps above his age level for years. Saw him go up against Vince Mellars from the Vulcans at the Mangere trial game last year after Mellars had sent Limu Franklin back to school. Gibson did a good job of containing Mellars in that game, not bad for a 17 yr old.

Agree with a lot of what you say.
One of the things I have noticed this year is they are playing as individuals and getting tired out. In attack they are trying to run over or through the opposition instead of trying to hit the gaps.
Young Hopa had a great game though.
