Ok let's put this into perspective. At this time of year, the average temp in Moscow is -3, in Madrid, it's 2 (celcius). I don't think a difference of 5 degrees will be too difficult for players to adapt to as they've played in all extremes before!

Not sure where you're getting your info, but I just did a quick check on wiki and these are the average low/highs for February

Moscow: -10/-4
Madrid: 4/12

So it is in fact more like a 14 degree difference when you look at the average lows. You can't underestimate the role this plays, the Russians are training and playing in these conditions (and worse) on a daily basis, whereas the Madrid pretty boys maybe only experience it once or twice a year. Plus, maybe the longer than usual flight plays a role... Barca had the same result last year with Rubin Kazan, 1-1....

Russia has good teams also. CSKA are much better than some of the scrubs Barca have lost to in the league which will cost them the title.

Madrid should wipe the floor with them in the return leg. Everyone at Madrid will be content with the result. Even a 0-1 loss they probably wouldn't be overly concerned with.

That was the first time I've heard Gary Neville commentate, and even City fans this season has been waxing lyrical about what a breath of fresh air he's been and how good a commentator he is.

He was absolute shit.

The barrow he was pushing about "oh apart from Cavani, Levezzi, and Maggio, Napoli don't have much" was disgraceful. If you take Silva, Aguero, and Toure out of City, or Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta out of Barca, I'm sure they become more beatable. Absolute f**kwit.

I'm sure his opinion of your football knowledge would be the same.

Only he would be right.

You give ex players way too much credit Wire. Neville may be somewhat erudite compared to the other guvnor types walking around, but even after 15 years of being privy to what goes on in a managers head, most of them wouldn't be able to explain to you why a match was lost or won.

Steve McManaman is a prime example. Absolute twat. The only half decent colour commentator in England is Ray Wilkins. They need to get tactical brains inside there, not tape recorders/echo merchants.

You're not seriously going to defend Neville? Are you?

He is an embarrassment.

Behave.

No i don't give ex players to much credit. I give out credit where its due.

Neville knows his stuff, comments on what is happening and offers insightful analysis.
The fact that even scousers and bitters say he is good shows that.

Ray Wilkins is rubbish and offers nothing in commentry.
McMananananananaman i agree with you.

You obviously did not listen to him during his game. There was not one thing he said that was remotely insightful. More along the lines of ignorant, biased and most importantly, clearly showing his lack of knowledge about Napoli/Italian football.

Commentators like Neville who are ill informed and clearly do not do any basic research on the opposition are a blight on the game and not worth listening to.

The worst co-commentators almost always speak the most. The best ones tend to speak once every four or so minutes, and rather than a brief non-insightful remark about something that just happened, it is mostly a informative analysis of how the game was unfolding since they were able to sit back and have some perspective. That style is unimaginable in today's world of fridge buzz commentary, Neville a perfect example. I feel sorry for Tyler commentating with some of the incompetenr, embarassing idiots he's joined by. Neville is a joke.

By the way Neville is not the only UK pundit who is an embarrassment. Souness, Lineker and Andy Gray are also terrible.

0-1 isn't so bad but anyone who had watched even. 1 single Bayern match in '12 knew this would be happening I'm just surprised Basel didn't score 2,3 or 4. Kinds makes me confident for the return leg.

not sure what BM's goalie was doing, that goal went straight through his legs, still 1 zip away is a fair result

They are terrible, aren't they?

Another team like Chelsea, full of ageing stars that needs to be blown up and re-built.
