not everyone is a superstar at that age and not all superstas at that age have a future. You look at juniors we have poached with much excitement and turned into duds (Jackson nicolau, brett Anderson, brent McConnell). Yet squad fillers at junior age like steve southern and shane tronc gave several seasons of great service to us.

A lot of it is hit and hope at that age and on top of that If you looked at your top 25 now and had to make an estimated guess and who will retire, who can change roles and who will still be there and which gaps will need to be filled. It's impossible.

Yeah, Mayer was whining a bit, and negotiations with Tedesco were poorly handled, I agree to that.
As for the 'big 3', they have kicked on far in excess of their form at a junior level. It was very astute and fortunate scouting, but seeing people like POPEYE assume that it will always be the case for the Storm is simply hilarious.
the fact that cronk wasn't a hb in his junior days is just astonishing

Wasn't even trying to trap him. 100% the genuine reason why I hated the Storm from day 1. The sad part from my perspective is I would have been right behind a Melbourne expansion team under any other circumstances. It was the link with Ribot and News Ltd, and the fact they were a protected species while my team and several others (including yours) were just so much trash to throw away that meant instant hatred.

The ultra sad bit is that these days Poppy's monologues are probably the highlight of the NRL forum. It has become a den of utter stupidity.
Yea. Agreed with that.

That entire time was a schmozzle for league, unfortunately

It annoys me watching Kane Linnett and Cam King playing for the Cows and the Stewart brothers playing for Manly, but what you say is true, you can't keep them all. And I agree about Smith, Slater, amd Cronk. The donkeys derped on those 3. It happens. Not one of our juniors, but we did have a chance to sign JT as a youngster amd rejected him.

We are starting to get more and more Melbourne born and bred players coming through the grades. Was always going to take time.

And the club only being around for 16 years but people expecting us to already have a shitload of juniors as most Sydney sides do is ridiculous.

I agree, we got extremely lucky with those 3 (and Inglis but he was always going to be a star no matter where he played).

But please don't lump all of us in with POPEYE, majority of us know we won't have it this good for awhile, especially with Bellamy retiring.

Agreed.

frustrating that, to the vast majority of they debuted for the club they are automatically their juniors.

The juniors debate is a joke these days.

To me, a junior is someone who played majority of their junior footy in the clubs catchment area and came up through the grades.

Getting some kid from the bush to play Harold Matts isn't a junior imo.

there is also an upside, having a born and bred western Australian junior in our ranks atm is something to be proud of. Similar to the knights with McManus from NT.

With us having Fonua (born and bred in Melbourne) and Young Tonamapoeia (moved to Melbourne when he was 6) is awesome for the club.

Is there a Nobel Prize for Linguistics? If so, the dude who devised the word SMEGMA should've won it.

Just say the word.....it reeks of something disgusting, doesn't it?

Just look at the word.....it reeks of teeth grinding and cringing. The two "M"s in the word just give such polish to the word.

Smegma is such a beautiful word....in all its ugliness.

Just decided to give Michigan the punt.

After earlier this week agreeing to come around to my place for dinner and a movie, she spent today texting me hot and cold junk.

"I like you but I'm not sure but I am but..."

I just decided to tell her that I have a finite amount of time left in China, I appreciate her attempt at honesty, and that I'd rather not spend my time chasing somebody who doesn't know if she wants to be caught.

Feels good. I've let her do her childish back and forth for way too long just because she was/is cute.

Nek minut she shows up at your door in a dominatrix outfit

One can hope

I wasn't really sure whether it was worth pursuing anyway, now that I know I'm leaving. She's not the 'casual fling' kind of girl, and it seemed pointless to pursue something potentially romantic with somebody so flighty.

Meanwhile, Kenya has made it quite clear that she is interested in me, so it seems silly to waste time on a potentially maybe when there's a more mature, intelligent girl who is interested and not jerking me around.

I 'ain't got time for messing about.

What happens when a true local becomes good enough to play origin?

Plays for NSW. Duh.
