Went exploring this morning.

Was meant to be a run, but was in an old fire trail/mining area region. There is one main trail which then branches off to a few different spots, have done one of the walks up the top. Found another side trail that leads over to some houses the other day, but it was getting dark so I couldn't explore much further. So today I took that and then followed a sidetrail off that. Was pretty wide to start with, started running it but eventually it just kept going up. I thought it was going to intersect with another trail but nope. Ended up getting very narrow. Not particularly well used but there was a clear trail and some handy markers on the various trees to follow which was lucky. Almost got lost on the way back. But it ended up being a pretty cool little trek. Real rainforest area nestled into the bush, found some creeks and such, eventually hit a clearing and couldn't find any marker anymore.

Tried to jog back but kept having to stop to work out the direction I needed to go. Eventually got back to main trail, again ran up and to the left of a track I've been to before and jumped a gate, but I think it was just a gate to stop dirtbikes/horses, because the track just looped back around to another walk I've done. On the way back down to my car found another side trail which lead to what was a pretty well sculpted little bike trail, but didn't follow it. Hurt my ribs playing soccer on the weekend so ability to run was a little limited. But was still a solid run when I was going uphills etc and a decent explore.

Then I went down to my car, drove around the outskirts of this are to another side street and found a couple of other entrances marked "Abandoned mine site, do not enter" so I guess they'll be where I go exploring next.

Went down to the beach and has a bacon and egg roll. Beautiful day

Be careful mate. I grew up in an area with plenty of abandoned mine shafts from the 1800's.

Most had been well barricaded and marked, but every year or two we'd find another and mark it off as well.

Not sure what sort of abandoned site it is, but if someone was to slip down one of these shafts with nobody else around they'd be cactus.

Im not stupid, i very much proceed with caution in these area's. I love finding old abandoned areas in the bush though, nature midway through claiming them back. It's kind of cool.

Another spot I went recently (which much clearer, well sealed off etc)

Never thought you were, just agreeing that a bit of caution is a good thing in this area.

Yeah, loved both of those shows

Ah, the days when Australian made television wasn't shitty reality TV or crappy drama.

As much as I love my US and UK television, I do wish there was a tad more Australian produced content of quality.

Here's an interesting topic.

Are shows like Kingswood Country, which are considered politically incorrect, viable options to show on rerun in today's cultural climate?

It's so bizarre how shows like Game Of Thrones and Spartacus are considered acceptable mainstream fare these days yet shows like Kingswood Country and Married... With Children would probably result in you getting the sack for suggesting them in the boardroom these days.

We're not more or less liberal these days, the standards have just changed.

One of the reasons I enjoy watching Indonesian TV is the political incorrectness. I know its wrong to laugh but when the variety show brings on a dwarf to be tossed it is f**king hilarious. They have started blurring cleavage out however.

Who at all said GoT and Spartacus were acceptable mainstream?

These shows are heavily discussed in online and print media and GoT draws on first views 6 million an episode in the States (dumbed down and not considering differences in standards, that's equivalent of like 400k in Oz). That's mainstream, and obviously acceptable.

Got to agree with t-ba here, Game of Thrones is basically as mainstream and pop culture centric as a show can get these days.

Spartacus not so much, but that's mostly because it isn't anywhere near as successful.
