I did say it felt superthread like, and that was before we started discussing the issue of foreskin.

Let's stick to the topic, but keep it a tad more intellectual.

With a rising number of families choosing to circumcise their sons at birth, do you think that this largely cosmetic procedure is one an individual should be able to choose themselves rather than having it forced upon them?

New topic for the lads (sorry Alba and Dani). Show-er or grow-er?

The latter.

In honesty, I believe they should leave it for the individual to decide, unless needed for health reasons. ie. I know of two people:

1) During his time within his mother womb, he did not develop correctly, so the foreskin did not properly develop. Hence, he needed the snip.
2) A friend of mine got a rather a bad infection in this youth, he needed the snip as well.

I can't imagine that any grown man would choose to be circumcised! Correct me if you think I am wrong. I wouldn't circumcise my son, if I had one. I don't see it as a big deal as long as they know how to clean themselves properly.

Whilst in that neck of the woods, so to speak.

I don't get the massive fuss over female pubic hair. If it's there it's there, and I'm certainly not taking a razor to my nether regions, why should I expect the female to do this?

I agreed with Hank Moody's views on the matter - not advocating 70's level bush but nothing wrong with a bit of hair being there.

I didn't get my son done.

Only reason I would have was as D10 said for medical reasons. (not a Jew so there go the religious reasons aswell.)

But f**k getting it done as a teenager or adult.

I find it makes certain things easier and more enjoyable. That said, same here. It doesn't bother me either way. So long as it's neat and clean, you know

It's actually a rather painful, risky procedure that can cause a fair bit of damage. I've heard of many circumcision horror stories, mostly ones that are backyard jobs under certain religions.

I know in places like the US it was quite the norm, however, it's a slowly dying trend.

Also, just out of interest @DrewSta, what sort of wages (ballpark) do ministers/reverends/vicars/priests tend to get? Is it just roughly the average wage or so? I realise there's 'perks' (they put you in a place etc).

What ever goes into the basket.

I, personally, find more than a little hair to be very off-putting. A landing strip or a little triangle is okay with me, but more than that is every bit as off-putting as hairy armpits.

I don't expect shaved, but if I can trim mine, they can trim theirs.

Not happy in your hoodie? I like mine. I prefer to call them transformers since you can switch but I wasn't sure if the UT would know what I meant.

It's not that I'm not happy with it aesthetically - I'm not so shallow as to really care what my tackle looks like.

It's that, due to a doctor basically ignoring my mother's concerns when I was much younger, I've got to deal with phimosis these days. Had the doctor listened to her when she went in, the situation could have been resolved with topical steroids.

Now? It's circumcision or a lifetime of not really being able to enjoy sex the way it was intended.

Go back to gym for the first time in just over two weeks, the hot receptionist is back. #Winning

I agree with Mis to a point - Less is more. I mean, keep it tidy. I keep mine clean. Nothing is cool about a full lawn on either sex, IMHO.

In saying that, I'm a hairy person.

Most Anglican senior ministers earn about $62k before tax. Assistants get around $52k.

The perk they get is a % of their wage can go into a MEA account (Ministry Expense Account) which is tax free. The Diocese endorses 30% for most ministers, although exceptions exist. This allows them to allocate money to things they would utilise in ministry ala food for entertaining, maintenance of their cars so they can travel and visit people, entertainment costs like when they take you out for coffee to talk etc etc. The church also provides housing, phone and a travel allowance.

A solid equivalent is they earn the same as someone on about $75k-$85k with the perks taken into consideration. Housing is the big deal since all church's have a church ministers house - not having to pay for that saves them about $20-$30k. When you take that into consideration the $62k provides them with a fairly good wage.

Out of curiosity, what are the requirements for working as a minister? I mean, aside from the obvious 'faith' and the studies you're presently undertaking.

Are there any required licenses or the like? Is there demand for ministers or is there something akin to a waiting list? Do you get any say in where you're placed?

Hair is so frickin gross. Having as many guy friends as I do, I've heard some horror stories. I don't know why any girl would want a guy to see her full bush. OMG, I felt like vomiting just saying that. Less is better, none is best IMO!
