Don't understand why all you girls have got so paranoid tonight?? :?

I was just pointing out that the response from Parra fans in general has been poor.
There are plenty of people who have been wanting stuff like this to happen for years.
Not a peep out of them. :?

And, as someone else said........I think it was WC.............. lets not just see all the same old faces again. But in general, it's the same old faces again replying and trying to make this work...........PG, Mystik, Jess, Helen, WC, Fanaticeel etc...... The people who are making up the 15 or so responses that I was referring to.

So, my point was valid......besides a few others, where is this so called army?

Good to have a core group, just a matter of making the group visible on game day and then get the attention of other Parramatta supporters who may not be on this board, or lurking here.
Give it time to build, unfortunatly Parramatta supporters outside of the die hards, are notoriously fickle so hopefully a finals game will bring them out of the woodwork and to the Hill of Kogarah on Sunday or the following week at the SFS or whenever the next game will be.

It's not paranoia, just wondering why have you chosen this week of all weeks to be such a negative Nancy?? Cause we're not sitting on a winning streak??

Responses like that aren't exactly encouraging to new people Suity :?

The bit in red is a stupid statement and you know it.

So, I'm not allowed to express my disappointment in what I feel is a very poor response from fans to organising a group get together?

I guess I shoulda posted earlier just to confirm I'd be there. Obviously, I will be.

But then again, my posting would just prove Suity's point - namely that it would be the same people as went to the Tigers game.

Yes, it will be good for us all to sit together again. But here's the catch - it will pretty much be just the same people as last time.

So, what do we do?

Well, we put into practice what has been mentioned in other threads.

1) We get there early and secure a spot (already mentioned here);
2) We become proactive at the ground to recruit entering Parra fans to come sit with us. We might start with 15 but we might end up with 50 and that's a great start;
3) Tell people about next week and next year. Mention the B&G Army website and we'll get FUIFUI MOIMOI to have something posted up for next week's semi-final

Turning up and sitting together - the same people as last time - will essentially achieve nothing. Maybe a few shots of us on the tele. All that will do is allow us to come here and read posts from the same people who told us last time that they saw us on the tele.

We all now know where to go on Sunday. Some of us can't get there early but some of us can. Those that can need to be willing to get off our arses and start a recruitment drive.

I don't know what time I'll be getting there but at this point I'm aiming to be on my motorbike at 11am. This should hopefully get me there in time to enjoy a nice quiet coffee before I head to the ground and get busy during NYC.

So here's my question - where do I park?

I don't wanna be a stick in the mud, but currently there is a committment from about 15 people

Eels Army?

LOL. More than LOL, it's embarressing.
If you all want to see a real army on Sunday, check out the guys and gals in the other colours.

No, that bit in red is a stupid statement.

I understand your disappointment but there's no need to pay out the ones that are still trying to get it going. And who knows, at the ground on Sunday we'll probably adopt extras.

But as MITS has previously mentioned, it all takes leg work and for these types of things to build, you can't just expect to rock up at kick off to a massive swarm of people.

Sorry Suity, I must have mis-interpreted what you said.

You were right with this statement.

Refer to the top post.
FMD, it had nothing to do with YOU, nor was it about YOU.

Cool, I think there's a few people turning up for gates open, so I'll bring a couple of picnic rugs etc to save us some real estate!

Thne best way to make it work is to reach out somehow beyond the forum walls, tbh, otherwise if meet ups are only organised in the scope of this forum, then generally it will always be the same names who 'rsvp' because those people are the active posters.....

Children, Children, Children. "From little things, big things grow" Love that song and it should be our motto for the Parra Pit!

Well said Fishy. This thread took an interesting turn since I last read through...

No-one should have to - or feel like they have to - justify their attendance for each game. That's not what a fan army is all about imo. It's about organising a place, getting the word out effectively, and being happy with that and the experience created.

I think getting the away army together for next year - through the ideas already mentioned on the forum (like linking with the club, getting them to send a flier/email out with details to season ticket holders toward the start of next season, items on the club website, and in person hand outs at Parra Stadium home games) - will be an important step in growing the army and getting together firmer plans in place earlier in time for the season after that (2011).

The home army/bay etc is a different issue, and it seems the club has something plans wise ready to go with that, which can also be worked on and improved by people who are interested for future years.

So 2010 is looking good imo - baby steps, as we all keep reminding each other - and miraculously we're still alive for at least one more week this season, with nothing at all to lose! C'mon Eels, let's give 2009 our best shake! :D

I'm not attending this game as it has fallen on my mum's birthday, which to me is more important occasion than a game of football will ever be. Good luck to those braving the trip to Kogarah, and I'll look out for you on the screen when I catch the TV replay. :thum

Hey Nikki, what is the name of this song? I heard a bit of it the other day and know it from somewhere but not sure where....
