Re the captaincy issue- its a pity Green is old and slowing up or I’d have him as captain. He was going full Cam Smith with the ref yesterday

It is in much of Queensland and most places in NSW. Soccer might have a claim based on junior numbers in some areas, but AFL isn’t close and Rugby is dying here except maybe in the private schools
Cricket?

But like I said, depends on how you define it - and regardless the Warriors need to become an attractive option - even if league was stronger here, it's a bit of a joke club, right?

cricket is a summer sport though so doesn’t really compete. It’s certainly not viewed as a competitor to footy codes here.

Re the Warriors, you’re right, but it only takes a season or two to turn that around. We weren’t a joke club in 2003.

"The whole country" argument is lazy as f**k and ignores several more logical and pressing issues that make it more challenging to get the best players

Interesting though because many of the best junior cricketers here are also the best union prospects...

Warriors have had good years but never established the expectations and culture of the likes of Brisbane

Unpopular opinion - Kearneyball CAN work and when our team is fully fit next year, we're only 2 players away from being a genuine contender

1/2 back and hooker plus a dominating ball playing lock?? I’m thinking we’ve still get a few spots to fill

I'd like a half with a good kicking game and can organise, and a ball playing lock or impact/offloading/dynamic back rower off the bench.

A team like this, when fit, playing the way we did yesterday, would be a top 4 team imo:

RTS
Maumalo
Hiku
Herbert
Fus
Kodi
XX
Ah Mau
Egan
BMM
Harris
Katoa
Jazz

Roache
Paasi/Bunty
Bunty/JTB
XX

Firepower up front - check
Great back 3 - check
Running 5/8 and a organising/kicking half back - check
Centres who can create - check
Strong backrower who can offload - check
Versatile lock with footwork and offload - check
X factor and someone who can take advantage of a tiring defence off the bench - check

If we had that team and completed 85% of sets and didn't give away too many penalties we would be difficult to beat imo

I don't see any future in Kearneyball. Kearney ball has resulted in an attack putting us 13th, 11th and 10th in the comp across 3 seasons. Even when the Storm were playing that uncompromising give up nothing style, they still scored points. And even Ivan, if you look at 2007-11, we were 3rd, 10th, 5th, 7th (I didn't count 09). Huge difference.

If we're going to be a threat, we have to score 500+ points a season. Not 400 odd like we do.

That backline isn't even top 8, let alone top 4.

Still lacks the gamebreakers to really take on the top teams.

Would be middle of the pack at best.

At least 6 players away. Maybe more imo.

Centre
Prop
Lock
Hooker
Halfback

Probably another prop. And a coach

Gee, that's a bit harsh, I think. Looks like a pretty good backline to me. Obviously just missing an essential ingredient- a quality half

And wheels. RTS is quick, but none of our centers or wings are.

Yes i’m surprised Cows didn’t try to exploit this with young fella on debut Tabuai-Fidow as whenever he had the ball i thought every time he could’ve just put the pedal down and gassed Herbert and Beale. Oh for some outright speed

So, I guess we kind of agree?
I'm talking about when we're fully fit next year.
So far we have BMM and Rudolph (will he or won't he?) on the cards, and with Roache fully fit thats essentially a new hooker as hes played f all for us.
I'm happy with a Hiku and Herbert centre pairing, they're not perfect but theyre a solid combo

Is it though? Line our backs up against other teams. We're nowhere near top 4 and we could go back and forth about top 8.

Reality is harsh, and the reality is this backline isn't getting us anywhere near a premiership.
