Finally had a bit of time to watch them. Great stuff and the Thai v Norway video was really well done, couldn't stop watching.

The Bosnians were a better standard than I expected but some of the poor Hungarian backs have hands like digital watches.

Wow, I was expecting a bunch of expats but they really do look like legit Thais. Does anyone know anything about where these players have come from, their domestic activity etc?

Yeah some of those kids were impressive but I dare say there would have been a sprinkling of heritage players involved by the look of it.

This is the group that are starting a domestic comp and have run clinics in Thailand itself and plan on developing the game at school and Uni levels. They look pretty impressive and seem to have a 5 year plan, I hope they do well.

Thailand played Norway in Bangkok today.
Finished about 40 minutes ago.

Thailand won 46-6.

All Thai players are from their domestic comp and are Thai heritage.
So captian Steven Lesina and Mathew Colgrave are playing in the domestic comp are they. And the 4 team domestic comp are they. Which clubs are they playing for? Pretty sure both have never played RL in a Thai domestic comp. and according to the TRL fb page it was sanctioned by the RLIF, find that very hard to believe. From what I saw on YouTube there was a Norwegian guy ( to his credit played and had a real go) had only 1 and a half arms. If that norway team is 19th world ranked team ahead of the likes of the Greeks then I'll eat my hat.
Thai domest comp started last week in a double header where there was more than one guy who played in more than 1 team.
Owner of the TRL also retracted a ban he tried to enforce for people playing in the Thailand stars squads over the past 2 years in an attempt to fill his rosters for his domest comp.
1 game called off today due to kits being torn to shreds last week.
It's my understanding that he still owes a different manufacturer for kits he obtained last year.
I guess you get what you pay for. Especially in Thailand.
The truth is out there for those who care enough to find out.

What would you like to know. I was there I saw a committed Thai team take down a bunch of hung over so called Norwegians. Who were speaking english by the way.
Don't get me wrong the thais were good. Infact very good, ball control and completion rate was very impressive. But norway were rubbish. And from what I saw they played most of the second half with 12 people.
As for this group getting the game up and running in schools and universities we will see. They still need the support of the Thai community for that to happen.
By the way in 2020 there will be more people playing RL in Thailand than will be in Australia if there vision of their 5 year plan is sucessful. Lol what a joke.
While they did start a 4 team domestic comp the following week they relied upon players backing up to play 2 games and a bunch of temporary visitors keen for a run. A few uni pub players from sydney and a few from the usa.
While all this was going on the so called other group held a 9's tournament in Phuket where they hosted more than 50 Thai nationals playing league in Thailand for the first time.
But don't worry if the TRL is a sucess you will all have your chance to buy a franchise for an inflated price with the promise of making all your money back through contra sponsors that don't really exist.

Legit thais they are. Was mostly local rugby players from various provinces around the country. The lock was their best. Plays in brisbane halfback and captian from cairns. 5/8 from sydney and has played with the "other" so called rebel stars. Even though the stars were first to play any sort of RL in Thailand. Hooker from nz and quite good also.
The real shame here is there was plenty of Thai talent that didn't play in this match due to either being threatened with bans and or being completely stuffed around by the TRL last year.
Put all the available Thai talent together and there is definitely a future for them. I believe the RLIF have a duty of care to see that the 2 waring groups sort out their differences for the good of the players and the integrity of the international game.

Obviously you have a bit to do with the game over there and not a fan of the TRL, what is the impediment in the 2 bodies coming together?

It annoys me when there are personal interests that get on the way of moving the game forward, it seems to be a trait of Rugby League folk.

Bronco rob the main impediment is the TRL itself and their ambition to sell franchises to people like myself. A quick background check on the chairman and founder the self proclaimed unstoppable Entrepreneur will give you a little bit of an insight into the character of this group. Also the major reason why he doesn't have the support of the Thai community.
I have plenty of proof to back it up too but as I'm not at 20 posts yet I'll keep this brief in the hope that the TRL keyboard Warriors come out to play.
I'll be at 20 posts soon and will be happy to post links to back up anything I claim here.

Thommo4pm don't you think it's strange that this group who talk up their domestic league so much don't post pics of the teams or name the line ups or scorers even though that can't wait to let everybody know every time a try has been scored.
Be great to hear what shayne Hayne had to say about the opening double header where there were blokes running out in both games to fill in the numbers. As one game has already been cancelled this week and another in round 5 I think it all points to they don't have the numbers on the ground in Thailand or the matches would have been postponed not cancelled.
As for Hayne being the number 1 ref in the ge I'm tipping Cowboys players and fans might have a different view on that.
By the way if the other group ever start a local league they are likely to use Mr and Mrs badger as their headline grabbing whistle blowers as they did for their first match back in 2012.
