Jess, certainly need workhorses, but there appear to be some good younger alternatives coming through, having said that, I did see that Todd was very upset after the intercept, but who knows what happens from here.

We just need players to step up, and Todd has some value in covering a number of positions, and must admit he played well when moved into a defensive role in the centres.

I don't want to see any player fail, but we have some bigger, more athletic players on the fringes these days. Competition is good, to be honest I was never sure we had a real weakness in the backrow, but that is another story.

I just think it will be a better year for Lowrie, but it won't matter, everyone will just bag him anyway.

The strong, quiet defensive players are always my favourites, thats probably why i jump to defend them so often.

Good talk Delboy :D

THing is Jess, who doesn't get bagged.

2. Hindy
3. Mateo

I have said many times and I will keep saying it - Todd Lowrie is a very handy player to have around. It is rare for him to make an error so the one on the weekend was rare.

I think he has the ability to surprise a few people.

he reminds me of that player that came from Penruff who was here for a year or two.
I recall he let in a try and was so pissed at himself in the in goal.

Johnkolc, your comment re Lowrie trying hard is spot on, but we have plenty of players that do that, and to be honest if you do things and don't finish them properly, like the break and you throw a pass that gets the opposition back into the game, then trying hard is not good enough.

As Isaid before, Cordoba was a liability, and if he was injured , then he shouldn't have been there, he hasn't lived up to his early promise, and should be well behind the 4 other front row forwards that played Saturday night, we need to be very judgemental and harsh on performance or else we endure another year like 2009.

There are no favourites or tried hard needed this year, otherwise it will be a tough one, hopefully DA sees it that way too. About time they trod on eggshells and a bad performance is acknowledged that way, and the players have to fight their way back into the side.

Mediocrity is not soemthing we need.

Yeah Del I don't disagree with you there, I've never been a massive Lowrie fan either, I just thought he bobbed up well the other night a few times given his limited minutes on the park. Admittedly made some mistakes though too.

The thing is though, as others have pointed out, you do need those seemingly uncreative workers in the squad. After all we carried Wags (who I did like btw) for a decade and he was just a workrate/utility player. I see Lowrie in the same mould and so happy to have him in the 25 so long as he isn't costing us a hell of a lot of money.

Cordoba yeah well that injury aside he seemed to hold his own out there but that's about it. Should just about be make or break for him this year.

I also always had a soft spot for Lethal Lee Hopkins too. Very honest toiler that bloke.

i remember hanging over the fence after that try begging him to get up. I've not often seen a man more devastated then that night

I remember when he gave away that "penalty" on full-time against Melbourne at Parramatta in front of the posts to seal the win for Melbourne. Poor bloke was devastated. :(
