Upon a third rewatching of the prelim, warning this will be a Nico blah blah blah post, the BWB were up to their (they’re, there), dorsal fins in this

FFFS.

I am with Shinaz on this.
The team was so close in the first half.

This goes down as a wasted opportunity.

As I have declared before, I love all Nicos. We just needed 30 percent more and we win that game.

Unfortuanley Nico will be the defining part of our next 5 years.
He was not theonly reason yet he could have provided the keys to cover up, the handling,
Tobys first half, Sifas lateral lameness etc etc.

He turns up and plays like the cap pays him.
We win 2/3 out of the next 5.
We are so close. It’s nuts.
Trindall is going to be a great player. He is excellent.

f**k, way more annoyed today by that loss..
As Fitz said ,“f**k.

I said earlier this year that I didn't think our window was open till next year once AFB arrives. Think he'll have a massive impact on the go forward all round. Nicho needs the off-season to get himself right both physically and mentally for a fresh crack next year. Will be better without the distraction of Origin. Tricky and Nicho will also be the better for a full season rather than half a season playing together.

I honestly think those who believe we were close are a little delusional, and I don't mean that harshly. I'd love to still have that belief and optimism.

Penrith are fitter than any other side, they were ready to wait and over run us. Which happened.

Penrith step up a gear when they are under threat. They were playing within themselves and as soon as we got close just put the foot down. IF we had got in front first half they would have started a bit earlier

We will be better next year, and they will be worse.

I don’t know how a side can go out in a prelim and play within themselves, no matter how good they are. I agree with the initial post, we blew an opportunity. We said all week we’d need to play well and needed them to be a bit off. Well they were off, we just didn’t ice our opportunities. Too many errors.. definitely cost ourselves a shot in a grand final.

Obviously I disagree

We got close, they scored 3 tries and were robbed of a fourth

That's why I think they were playing within themselves until the last quarter.

As a professiona lreader of body language, I concurr with VonSladd. The Pennys were rattled. Their demeanour & the looks they were giving each other said it all. I knew they were rattled & in particular Edwards. Him & Luai at one point shrugged shoulders at each other as if to say " FIIK" .
We de mentalised enough to win that game , all we needed was Hynes to provide a bit more. Just support Brailey. Support a forward, not try set up a forward.
So disappointing, such a missed opportunity. And the problem is now we have a $1m injured player for 5 years.

And putting the $$$ into perspective we had Finnucane on $800k running really fast onto the field and BHU who played f**k all minutes on $500k. Gee I'd like to know his rate per minute.

I got a pretty good look at Penrith when katoa got over from where I was sitting. Right where he scored. It was as if they couldn’t believe they’d just let us score and wtf was going on. I agree with what others have said, they looked rattled. As if the plan wouldn’t have been to come out and blow us off the park like they did to the roosters in the first 25 mins and then take Cleary and others off with 25 to go.

we had the momentum in the next set after out try until Kaufusi drops the ball. I’m not saying we would have won, but we had an opportunity to go close and blew it.

With the greatest respect, I am not so sure.
Riffs game plan is smash the first 20 and butt hurt teams.
Not the last 20, unless it’s last year in the GFThe chin realised his team were on the ropes and then opened up his bag of tricks. He is generational.
Only better I have seen in Joey (although he was not as consistent), Locky and JT. Watching J.T was strange. Merkin had the ability to make time stand still around him. Cameron Smith like, but I’m a halves guy.
Come to think of it,that Smith merkin was amazing. Best night was him getting sent off at Shark park. Haha in 17.
We had the Riff cooked on Saturday.
Locky was f**kn sublime. Only bettered by Atko, TFI.
Hate being a Nico hater and not happy with the prelim.
I know Fitz will be positive but pissed.

Up up.

Frenzy.

Up up.
Wasn't in this game. They knew they only had to hold us out and then flip the switch for the last quarter and run over the top of us. GF energy preservation strategy. I reckon they fully flog the Storms.
