SJs tenure with us has been an odd one. I never truly cheered him on it backed him as a shark. I’ve never felt like that and I can’t put my finger on it. I have lost no sleep since he decided to return to NZ. A total “whatever” signing even in a key position.

I got to say I’m amazed that he was still offered a contract back with the Warriors, considering a couple of months back they said no.

I didn’t see the match what all the fuss about the banker, where we disallowed a try?

It happened in the 9th minute.
Katoa made a break down the right edge and, as he was being tackled, he passed it back inside for Ramien to score under the posts. The pass was clearly forward, but the touchy and ref let it go.

Then when SJ was lining up the kick, the bunker contacted the ref under the premise of "possible knock on in the lead up". They had a look to see if Katoa had juggled the ball while attempting to pass, and whether it had contacted a Broncos player. Nothing in it.

But it was enough for them to say "oh no knock on, but the ball travelled forward in relation to the ground. Forward pass. No try".

They CANNOT rule on forward passes.

It was the correct call, but once it's let go by the ref and touchies that's all she wrote.

So basically the bunker conjured up a bullshit call so they can overturn a try, given by the refs.it’s funny to see the NRL doesn’t follow their own rules that they Cannot rule on forward passes.

I am still shaking my far-can head over this. Just think of how many times players have juggled the ball as they are in the motion of scoring a try and then regather it before planting the pill down.

Game has turned into a bloody joke, no risk.

Oh yeah, we still played like shit and deserved to lose.

The thing is, if the player juggling it re-gathers without it touching anyone else it is good to go, or if they juggle it and hit it backwards. Unfortunately Katoa just lost it and hit it onto Ramien in a very forward motion, which constitutes a knock on.

Still a pharked up call BBB.

The bunker went hunting for a reason to disallow the try because the ref and touchies both missed the forward pass, simple as that.
The bunker look over every single try now to see if anything is off. They found a knock on in this one.
If Katoa had actually passed it there would have been no way they could rule that it went forward.
If blame needs to be labeled, put it towards Katoa's sloppy hands.

You could see this one coming a mile away and that is why we are trying to change the attitude around this place. The bottom two teams have won 5 games all year and 2 of those were against The Sharks.

With that weird call on Fox they said the pass was ruled a tip-on and therefore it could be ruled on by the bunker. Massive stretch and a bad call even if it was the correct result. What that touch judge was watching is anyone's guess.

I don’t know if he’s peaked, but I certainly don’t see him being Cordner like. He seems serviceable, but I don’t see anything that suggests he’s going to be elite.
I don’t think cordner was elite. He certainly wasn’t top 2 2nd rowers which is what gets you in the aus team. Just very solid and consistent.

I know they got the right result with the forward pass try but it was a bloody awful look for the game. They were so lucky that Katoa "batted" it on, otherwise it would have been a try.

What excuse can the linesman possibly give for missing that? I mean, he was right there. Almost on top of them. Anyone at the ground, Sharks or Donkey fan, could see it went a mile forward. I don't expect the ref to see it or the touchie on the far side. It's all down to that touchie nearest camera. It's either Michael Wise or Tyson Brough.

I can always give them the benefit of the doubt if it is line ball. But that one yesterday was apalling and I could not believe they were going to give it.

I wonder if that touchie gets the sack next weekend. Of course we'll never know as there are only four games so 8 touchies won't get appointed. By the time the Round 18 gets started, all will be forgotten and that touchie will be back. Mark my words you can bet on it.
