i just hope USA beat Samoa, after that i dont care which 3 make it --> all have plus points, ideally i would have loved USA, Wales, Lebanon to take up final 3 spots - but oh well GO TOMAHAWKS!

There'd be no point in playing this match if they didn't use their ESL and NRL players. A hiding from Samoa is on the cards next week. :(

I read somewhere that USA were asking around for local players who could fill in. So maybe they were missing one or two, but either way it's still a shock.

I suppose it's possible the 'big names' decided they didn't need to risk injury in a nothing game and it was just USA players and fill ins that got flogged (here's hoping).

Jeez...

You'd have to think Samoa are going to hammer them. I think deep down we all know it is going to happen...

Personally I am willing on Wales in the repecharge now - though the USA still have my support in this game.

Cumbria smashing the USA does not bode well for next week, especially when they will line up against the likes of Lauititi, Solomona, Meli, Faafili, Puletua, Paleaaesina. The USA making the WC is a great dream, but I for one dont see it happening this time around.

How bad the result is depends on the teamsheet which I've not seen yet. But even if it was a team featuring non of the 10 NRL and Super League players, they shouldn't be going down by that score to a county side featuring a few players who have retired or who don't have clubs at any level.

Shocking result and it's a shame they organised it. Having teams coming over and messing about like this does more damage than good to the game. Any people who went to their first game tonight won't be going back in a hurry.

Whether or not the NRL/SL players played is really irrelevant. For a country to get beaten by a county like that is just appalling. The USA clearly have a lot longer to go than I thought to becoming a competitive nation.

Now I think we can all agree that it's good that the Atlantic winners didn't get automatic entry

Cumbria are not a bad side made up of National league 1 and 2 players in recent years they have played:
Tonga and won 28-16 in 2006
The Anzacs in 2004 a team which was comprised of fringe players from the touring aussie and nz test sides and they lost 64-12
Here is the side Anzac from that day to show the strength of it:
Matt Bowen, Matt Cooper, Brent Tate, Shontayne Hape, Jamaal Lolesi, Scott Hill, Brett Kimmorley, Mark O'Meley, Dene Halatau, Paul Rauhihi, Clinton Toopi, Wairangi Koopu, Alex Chan. Subs: Ben Roarty, Henry Fa'afili, Lusi Sione, Chris Nero.
