Because Feki is already a good centre. He came from the Warriors as a centre. He played some lower grade footy with us as a centre. He would easily readjust and fill the role IMO

Feki reminds me of a young Mattai he has all the skills and speed plus he can motor straight over the defence with raw power. He has served his apprenticeship on the wing and now has the confidence needed to succeed at NRL level, give him a chance and I think he could be the best centre we have had in a very long time.

I agree with frenzy and chewy. Wright is as good as he is ever going to get. Feki has gotten better and more confident every game.

Moving Feki to centre to try Holmes at wing (and then swapping him for Gordon RTS style) is fine as an experiment if we are desperate, there are injuries, or maybe for parts of a game, but it also involves two or three positional changes in a currently performing back line, and we know through painful experience that very few (I'd say a lot less than half) the positional experiments tried by any club, especially us, seem to work.

So I repeat, why get rid of Wright HOPING that Feki will turn out to be a good centre AND Holmes will turn out to be a good winger? Seems a lot of risk in that.

What have we got to lose?? A wooden spoon??

The club needs to be preparing for 2015 cause 2014 was flushed about 10-15 weeks ago. Give Holmes a try, give our future players an opportunity in another position to see how they perform WHILE we are a position where results dont matter. What is the club expected to do? Wait to see if Wright resigns or a better than average center pops up?

Wright has had 2 years to prove he deserves a long term contract with the club....& for all we know he doesn't want to stay. So if Wright isnt here...and we cant sign the next ET....who does that leave? Maybe we can blood Holmes first game next year when it matters?

Holmes deserves a shot. Gordon's 'safeness' has even disapeared the last couple of weeks. Gordon > wing, Feki > centres, Holmes > fullback, Wright > reserve grade with Ayshford.

I'd love to see Gordon's error stats...I reckon he'd be close to the most error-riddled fullback in the NRL this year

Edit: 28 errors this year...

If Holmes gets the call up and plays well for a couple of games with Gordon at wing and Feki in centre do we bite the bullet and try maybe Addo-Carr on the wing for Gordon in last couple of games of season.

I am sure it was mentioned here previously club want to give him a run as well before season is up.

Ya know, id actually be keepin the side settled until we avoid the furging spoon at this stage. I know the season has gone as far as finals are concerned but if they are serious about avoiding the spoon they need to keep the best on the paddock. Just my view and i completely understand the blood players biso. Lets not do it willy fugging nilly though.

For sure. Wait till after Raiders game. He will be a weakness in defence to start with.

Under nearly every circumstance, we should have the best team on the paddock.

I want change as much as the next person when I see Ayshford concede try after try, game after game, or Wright play the worst game i've seen a back play (until his next game) stuck on the wing for months. It doesn't seem we have our best team on the paddock in such moments.

And if Holmes is good enough in lower grades, he will get an opportunity when form or injury mean there is a spot in firsts. And if that spot is a bench spot because no one is in really good form from the bench and he can be useful from the bench, that is fine too.

But I would never want to see a team run out that isn't the best one we can play at that moment (though I have, plenty of times). Only if there are marginal calls and it is not obvious someone in the present squad would be better than someone else should you "risk" a young player, if they are ready, in form, and the match isn't high pressure (or there is no other choice).

Is Gordon still the best we have though? He single handedly lost us the game against the Cowboys, by never giving us a chance.. He wasn't great against the Panthers either.

I know what you're saying, but I think Holmes deserves a shot. We moved Gordon to the wing for bloody Gardner for a couple of weeks, surely we can do the same for Holmes.

Flash has been anything but for a little while. I don't mind bringing players up based on form one bit. Gagan has been a revelation, and VH may well be as well. Id rather we avoid the wholesale "trials" so to speak under the guise that the season is over and we may as well blood a few players. Id hope we've got more pride than that.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't want to throw a team of under 20's in there just for the sake of it. Need to make sure we avoid the spoon first and foremost.

I couldn't give a f**k about the spoon.

16 teams start in March - come last Sunday in October there's only one team who wins anything.

The other 15 all dip out.

2nd or 16th ...who gives a toss.

Who won the spoon two years ago?

The year before?

Who cares.

Play for the future.

I like Gordon but he's over the career hump and on the slide - playing reserve grade footy most weeks. Runs hard but ineffective.

Holmes is half a foot short I believe but what he does with the ball in hand is something you either have or don't. You don't learn it.

Good point

But ..
spoon is the only position other than first that anyone mentions.

So can we just avoid the horror of copping endless shit about it
and give this kid a crack at the same time?
