If Holmes gets the call up and plays well for a couple of games with Gordon at wing and Feki in centre do we bite the bullet and try maybe Addo-Carr on the wing for Gordon in last couple of games of season.

I am sure it was mentioned here previously club want to give him a run as well before season is up.

You lot are hilarious. Watch the 20s for a change. They are always out of the 8 and concede about 30 points a game. Yet promote anyone from the 20s to first grade. Only a good idea where merited. Most of our 20s look ok when we win. When they lose, they look like half decent park footballers. Carr is in that category. The regular lower grade watchers will know Holmes is no superstar never mind the likes of Carr and Deitz.

Playing anyone from the 20s in first grade devalues the jumper.

I have to admit whilst being a Peachey fan I was never sold on Lichaa. Yet he was the 20s origin hooker. Looks average in grade, massive jump to firsts. At the least these kids should be tested in Reggies. For whatever reason we never compete in the 20s , so we might as well give decent 20s a run in NSW Cup. Yet we often give un selected 20s players a bench spot in
Reggies. I think it should be promotion not demotion. Most clubs don't see it that way.

The kid has scored about 20 tries this season. He needs to toughen up mentally and physically. Will his development be enhanced by playing 20s or NRL? For mine, there is so much more upside in playing the kid and starting that toughening process. He will then know the standard that he needs to hit for next season.

Just a reminder the kid has scored about 20 tries this season. That is weight of form deserving promotion. This is not a case of giving a kid a try, it is a player who deserves promotion and who has the natural attacking talent sorely lacking in our club for over a decade.

Gagan did little in Reggie's and got a chance and look what he is done. Same with Feki. The only way to see if he has it is to play him.

Val Holmes has been given ago in NSW Cup and played extremely well. I'd like to see him tested in NRL, but have no lofty expectations. His defence is a weakness that needs to be improved.

Lichaa had also been playing in NSW Cup a lot last year. He was pretty good there too. He has been solid in first grade, but has some glaring weaknesses - like his match fitness.

Addo-Carr is fast and great when given some space. But he is horrible in defence. Would like to see him developed more in NSW Cup.

Deitz is extremely disappointing. Every game I've seen, he comes up with some dumb plays, and has passes disrupted by the markers every game. He needs to improve to get anywhere.

So in summary, Val should be promoted to NRL. The club really needs to improve his confidence, and convince him he is ready.

The answer to your points is this WS:

We have state and national players in Gordon, Gallen, Lewis, Carney, Fifita, Tupoo and Graham who was invited into camp.
7 names.
More than half a starting side.

We are stone motherless last.

Our 'stars' are obviously not the answer for 2015.

Devaluing the jumper?

It's worth less than the Ukraine zac.

And just how many games, collectively, have we gotten out of those 7?
Our stars are not the reason for our woes. The horrendous injury toll can take the majority of the blame

I saw Holmes tear a Jets defence to shreds for three tries and countless chanves a few weeks back. Can clearly do it in attack and agree that he needs to be tested the hard way this year.

As for all other suggested promotions? Ludicrous.

And what Frenzy said...

Another team hammered by injuries are Manly.

Theyre also at the end of the table.

The opposite end.

Holmes is half a foot short I believe but what he does with the ball in hand is something you either have or don't. You don't learn it.

Probably the most in-accurate post on this forum.

Holmes is 185cm and growing.

Making him taller than Billy Slater (178), Michael Gordon (179), Matt Moylan (184), Darius Boyd (184), Anthony Milford (178), Ben Barba (177).

he is 4cm shorter than Hayne, 3cm shorter than Dugan and 1cm shorter than Brett Stewart.
With time on his side to get taller and heavier.

Crap statement.

The opposite end.

So let's compare their 7 best and ours:

Manly

Brett Stewart 15 games of 18
Jamie Lyon 16 games of 18
Steve Matai 18 games of 18
Kieron Foran 14 games of 18
DCE 15 games of 18
Watmough 13 games of 18
Glenn Stewart 6 games of 18

Sharks

Gordon 18 games of 18
Carney 9 games of 18
Graham 18 games of 18
Gallen 8 games of 18
Lewis 7 games of 18
Toupou 8 games of 18
Fifita 10 games of 18

So our best 7 players have amassed 78 appearances from a possible 126.
That equates to being 7 players short for 7 of the 18 games we've played. I don't think anyone could expect to win those matches under those circumstances.

Manly have 97 appearances from their batch. G Stewart the only one who has not played 10 or more matches this year. We have 4 players who haven't played 10 - three from the engine room, the other the teams creativity.

And we haven't even gotten to the likes of J Mo, Robson, Beau Ryan and the plethora of back ups who have also been injured.

Manly in an injury crisis? Give me a break.

Injuries and Instagram. That's what's killed us this year

Yeah, using height on its own is a pretty useless stat IMO. It's height combined with their vertical leap that counts. As you have shown, Slater is pretty short, but he is rarely beaten in a contest because of the power that he has in his legs and can outjump most players. Kevin Locke is another with a massive vertical leap
