I was most pissed off with Kevin Walters.

He was really pushing him to go to Nth Queensland.

I hope Val realised he might not have had an NRL career if it wasn’t for the Sharks.

The Cowboys knocked him back as a junior.

Surely with his role in the game, he should not be doing that.

If he’s happy to do it on national TV, imagine what gets said in origin camp.

Funny if I remember correctly there were plenty in here writing Barba off big time before he came good.
I definitely was not one of them. His knee injury was so bad that he still runs with a limp. Lets see what happens when you know who suffers the same fate. For Barbs to recover & then go on to to be the best fullback by a mile that our club will ever see, was incredible.
As for Holmes needing 4 years to improve his defense, he will need every bit of it. Barbas defense was solid from day 1.

Bwahahahah.......
As usual you add nothing to this debate other than repetitive Val bashing. As others have said...the longer this goes on....the bigger fasrrkkwit you make of yourself.

2010Edit
Barba started the season as a regular first grade player. In Round 3 against the Sydney Roosters, Barba came off the interchange bench and scored a hatrick of tries in the Bulldogs 60-14 massacre win at ANZ Stadium, earning "The X-Factor" tag after his exciting performance in the match.[19][20] In Round 5, Barba scored a sensational try when halftime was approaching in the Bulldogs heartbreaking try on full-time 30-24 loss to the New Zealand Warriors.[21] In Round 11, Barba started for the first time in the season at halfback in the Bulldogs 31-16 loss against the Penrith Panthers.[22] Barba finished the Bulldogs low performing season with him playing in 21 matches and scoring 15 tries, being the Bulldogs standout player.

Couldn't have been think of all those tries the dogs let in , must have been bad positioning by the fullback.

Not a chance. Massive improvement & commitment required in defence. Light years away. Will be interesting to see how he copes with injury as well. Barbs won a comp after 3 major injuries & hes still killing it.

Barba was terrible under the high ball in his early NRL days, people tend to forget that.

Val's defence will improve.

Hope Holmes breaks the Sharks try scoring record in his 100th game on Saturday.

Would be a special game to do it.

One of the many Sharks records he’ll break in his career.

Peach is one of my all time favourites. If Holmes has decided to leave I hope he doesnt break the record but if he takes the extra 5 years i hope he smashes it

He’s aware that amid the lure of returning to Townsville to be closer to family and gifting his future to his opposition tonight, the Cowboys, is an equally important reason to stay at the Shire club, which signed him having only ever seen iPhone footage of the 17-year-old.

“I do think about that quite a bit — what staying at the one club can do for your career on and off the field,’’ Holmes said.

“Obviously Gal (Paul Gallen) has been a one club man and so has ET (Andrew Ettingshausen) and I think the fans love players who stick around at one club.

“You get a lot of recognition and accolades for being a one-club man, so I have definitely thought about it.

“It would be an amazing thing to be able stay a one-club man.’’
