CRONULLA are denying their move to employ Val Holmes’ girlfriend as a marketing assistant is a sneaky tactic to keep the fullback in the Shire.

Natalia O’Toole started part-time work at the club last week while she is doing a marketing degree. It’s no secret Holmes’ long-time girlfriend is keen to return to Townsville, a situation the Cowboys are monitoring very closely. Sharks chief executive Barry Russell denies it was a move to keep the couple happy in the Shire.

“That’s an insult to Natalia,” Russell said. “She’s doing a marketing degree and it’s a bona fide job.

“We needed extra staff and help coming up to the finals. She’s smart and she fits in really well. She’s on the award wage like everyone else. It’s part-time work for a couple of days a week.”

Not ideal but if Holmes really loves her he'll go. Guaranteed million wherever he ends up to be honest.

That’s a good idea, introducing her to the personalities within the club, so she can see what Val sees / feels.

It’s the other side to leaving, moving away from people you’ve worked with can be difficult.

Give Barry a tick for that.

Was it just me or did alot of his play last night seem a little forced? Alot more show and goes trying to get the record.

Yes he did try to do more than usual. Paid off when he passed to boogs for the last try.

And the outside should have had a support player. He moved to the right position to give the pass before the try, and no one was there.

We've reportedly offered him 4 million over 5 years according to zero tackle.
Probably not correct but the price tag will be up around that mark no doubt.

That’s less than what he’s on now according to some.

I’d be prepared to part with a mill per year, now he’s a goalkicking, try scoring fullback.

Pay him whatever it takes.

Will be a point scoring machine for many years to come.

Goal kicking at 85% and always up there with the leading try scorers.

I'm thinking it will be a mill per year 5 year deal. It could go either way but it's a risk work taking if he continues to rise.
