This is completely absurd. You can't penalize defenders for accidental contact initiated by the ball-carrier!

yeah I'm yet to see any footage of Manu's tackle that actually shows contact with the head. As far as I can see, it was purely a whiplash effect... not unsurprising when you run into a guy his size.

If this rule was in place to the same extent in 2007, then Crocker would still be suspended for that hit on Stewart.

There was nothing in both tackles.

They were identical. They were both penalties.

They were not identical but they were similar.

The 2 differences were that Manu was making a standard front on tackle (with arms slightly below horizontal) whilst Frank was doing a shoulder charge & leading with a higher part of his body.

Also, the eels guy slipped at the very last split second & contact was unavoidable whereas Simmons was trying to evade the tackle & didn't drop his body unpectantly.

Rules say no tackling the head of a opponent so Manu should have got careless grade 1 & Pritchard grade 2. Simmons is still out & his shoulder charge caused it & he got off lightly.

As for DES, he'll just whinge to make a point. He knows Pritchard broke the rules but he doesn't care about that.

For those saying any contact with the head warrants a suspension, what happens with head to head contact? Both players get suspended?
