Vella on NRL on Fox

Did anyone see Vella tonight, well if there was any doubt whether PJ marsh was returning pending a medical, Vella made it perfectly clear when asked about Parra's halves for next year. Vella just came out and said PJ Marsh.

Another interesting quote by Vella was when asked whether Witt would be the half back next year, "maybe, who knows what BS is going to do".
I may not have quoted it 100% but it was very close to this.

Witt should be 1st choice. PJ Marsh has been out of the game for a long time.

6. Morris
7. Witt

14. Marsh

Look, i've been a big bagger of Witt as all will know, however! iwill say this, he's been playing well in the past few weeks and has an uncanny knack of wining us games even though we haven't been brillant, he is all heart, we need to find him a spot.

pity thorman is leaving.

we could of had

6. thorman
7. witt

or

6. marsh
7. witt

or

6. morris
7. marsh

Damnit is there any way we can get thorman to stay?
make a deal with hudders and give them 3 shit players instead?

DON'T GO THORMAN [-o<

lie, make an excuse ,say you were drunk when you signed that contract but plzzz don't go.

hope pj gets back to his best.

Shame about Thorman, I reckon he wouldve been better as a ball playing 5/8. Not a halfback. Smith shouldve used him at 5/8, isnt that why he signed him.

Good news on PJ looks like it is medical clearence only and that from last report was a 80-90% chance of being cleared.

Witt should start as halfback for next year. If PJ is fit and returns to Parramatta then he should be eased back into first grade.

Poor Witty. In the last few days he has had both Brian Smith and Michael Vella say in the media, in not so many words, 'you're not our first choice halfback next year'. The kid is trying his guts out and doesn't seem to have the backing of anyone!! I would much rather Parra release the kid than dick him around so much and destroy what little confidence he has left.

I can't see him not being first choice halfback for next year. Given Morris' abilities as a dummy half, and Riddell's lack of fitness Witt will surely get plenty of game-time in the halves.

It all depends how PJ goes in the off season.

If he is fit, kills it on the training paddock and in the trials, he'll be pretty hard to keep out. Then again....he may struggle and a spot on the bench will be his for the seasons start.

well this will just about do me???

as soon as Witt actually gets a fair chance and plays well it seems like half the team (well BS and Vella probably count for half the team as far as BS is concerned???) want to come out and say well bad luck mate - you're out!!!!!!

what about some solidarity guys????

did they ask Vella about who would be starting in the front row next year????? because if he doesn't pick up his game there are about 3 quality front rowers waiting to walk into his cushy spot!!!!!

don't get me wrong i would love to see PJ back and firing, but poor bloody Witt must be on the biggest roller-coaster at the moment and not know whether he is coming or going - i just hope he comes out and has an absolute blinder against Penrith

I see it one of two ways.

1. They are challenging Witty. They want to see him display the form they feel he is capable of and by saying he might not necessarily be the first choice when Marsh returns ( :-k ) hope that the kid says "f**k you lot! The number seven jersey is mine for next year" and plays the house down.

2. They (Vella and Smith) are talking out their arse and don't even know if they will even have a job next year let alone who will play in the seven jersey.

I'll go with number 1. :D

And if he doesn't.....and spits the dummy or gets down about it, then that will also tell us something about the kid.

could be right Colonel, but i would settle for option number 2 though......lol ;-)

i reckon (and hope) he will play the house down againt Penrith, just like he did againt the Roosters and the Warriors and to a lesser extent the Sharks
