They have influences of Death Metal
Hard Core
THrash
and New Metal
So to the Kids that think they know it all,well spunks you are a speck on the metal Map!
Look Back to Megadeth ,Slayer ,the real Metallica(Kill'em all - Justice)
Anthrax,Testament,Morbid Angel ,Napalm DEath,Obituary...etc
Slipknot have based all their music on these bands,so if you so called Metal Heads say they sre'nt Metal then you are either Kids of the new and uneducated wave or just f**k'n ignorant!

:lol: I believed it because of the hype, yeah just like i believed that Eddie, Vai etc were good due to hype...just like i believed that Axl, Coverdale could sing...due to the hype lol

I enjoyed and still do due to the fact that regardless of hype, the calibre of good musicians was amazing, people could play and sing...unlike many bands these days tbth cannot sing, and i can't see how screaming into a microphone and tuning down there E strings to D playing some distorted thrash warrants selection.

Just my opinion.

I like Metalica, Slayer...even some Opeth, but regardless if a band is genuine Metal or what people percieve it to be, i don't think SlipKnot even Manson should figure so highly.

Funny how all Heavy Metal bands these days wear just as much make-up as Posion did in there hey day, but it's ok for Manson to do it lol

Regardless of what you think of Bon Jovi etc, Manowar or whatever they're called, they wouldn't be a pimple on the arse compared to Bon Jovi, and i'm not a huge Jovi fan, but Jovi, Ratt, crue, Gunners etc were and still are classified as Metal. I'm sure VH1 have more credibility to judge acts and what classification they are then you or I.

Now don't go slashing your wrists over that.;-)

To even compare Slipknot to death metal bands such as Morbid Angel or thrash/death bands such as Testament is sacrilege!!

I have no doubt that Slipknot listened to these bands but their music shares little in common. It's metal for teenagers. I'm actually embarrassed to even use the word metal when discussing Slipknot.

Two drummers does not equal one Dave Lombardo.

Nine band members does not equal the three members of Immortal.

I fail to see the "metal" in Slipknot, unless you believe that making noise slots you into one of the metal genres. To me that merely slots them into the Nu-metal genre which isn't an accepted metal genre anyway.

However I do agree that most of those bands listed by VH1 are NOT metal.

Mate I was'nt compareing I was explaining the similarities,you of all people should see this in the different styles slipknot play.
There is such a combo in thier style that incorperates so many musical diversaties.
But I'm not here to justify Slip Knot.
If yoo don't like Slip Knot that is your choice,it's an aquired taste.
I for one am a 34 year old willing to taste and sample the "nu" metal,lets face it if none of us enjoyed change we'd all still be listening to Quiet Riot and Flotsam & jetsom
