Victorian Born Storm Players

I think you should wait for the under 20s sides to come out - I would put money on the likely possibility that MOST SYDNEY NRL sides will have under 20's sides that have hardly any more locals than the Storm.

Manly is CROWING at the TOP of its voice that is has FOUR local Juniors in its first grade sqaud - FOUR - is that all!!!

FOUR!!!!!!!! So a nearly a hundred years of RL in NSW and only FOUR from a local area?

Most anti Storm people here would still be moaning if the Storm had only four local juniors - what is that called ???? Inbred, arrogant blindness. I think nearly a MILLION Victorians will tune into the grandfinal this coming week.

If it was all about juniors, soon a quarter of all NRL Clubs should be in and/or representing NZ and the Pac Islands.

A million did last year. That was fantastic, yeah and im with those who reckon this is good news, because it really is and about 20 years from now if Melb isnt = with the likes of the raiders/manly then that just means we havent done enough. 1 Million viewers without us doing SFA!

TV figures mean squat. Melbournians will attend and watch anything on TV. This does not mean that they or their children have a remote interest in playing. See the storm taking qld'ers as opposed to the stock they supposedly have in victoria.

It will only take one.

One Victorian born and bred kid to make the Australian team.

Many Victorian boys will want to become him.

Victorians are proud Australians and the Melbourne club will provide a path for these boys to wear the green and gold.

It will happen.

Four, From an area 1/14 the size of Melbourne, and 1/20 the size of Victoria. There's also a few Manly juniors plying their trade elsewhere besides the club...

Some of the Storm haters on here are really dillusional, I mean did they seriously think that the Storm would just appear in 98 and all of sudden would be filled with local players good enough to play in the NRL??

The Storm are making their mark in Victoria, TV ratings prove that, growing attendances prove that, growing sponsorship dollars prove that, and most importantly the fact that last year over 20,000 kids played Rugby League (the tackle version, thats excluding all the kids who played touch and league/oztag) and this year the stats look encouraging that the VRL could be pushing 30,000 (which is more kids playing League than Manly), they are making good progress in recent times.

No other place in Australia can offer the growth Victoria does to Rugby League, no where else outside of the existing places covered by teams can offer the sponsorship, the TV audiences and potential player and crowd depth of the Storm. I mean look they outdrew a Sydney Preliminary Final, sold out a Origin last year (something Sydney hasn't done for years) and got more to a Test Match than Sydney did and it had the Final as well.

Victorians do like an event, I can vouch for that, but at the same time they wont keep turning up to things if they don't like it, I think the fact that they are still turning up and more and more of them are turning up is showing they are having an increasing appietite for Rugby League.

Id like to see the numbers of QLDers or even Brisbane kids playing for the Brisbane Lions similiarly for the Swannies (with NSWers).

Those sides have almost 20 years of history in their states, Im betting their local juniors are about 2/3rds of f**k all.

melbourne kids dreaming of becoming league stars, wanting to watch and play league ahead of afl.................................

you guys live in some sort of farkin' fantasy land, say hi to the oompa loompas for me.

FFS the storm can't even compete with the victory when it comes to attendances and overall interest.

central coast, perth, 2nd brisbane side are three names that took about a millisecond to think of and all more deserving.
