i am hoping the reasoning behind the hulks on the wings is an admittance we have an undersized pack and they need help. Thats the only way i can understand why our wings go against the trend of the other teams in the comp (in terms of size and ability).
That makes sense about our choice of wingers. Its something Cappy felt we needed last year.

Well we final might have proof that it's not the coach that's the ultimate problem!
I like Kearney as the coach but if someone asked me whats Kearney done thats different from Cappy, Id struggle to answer that. We never had a problem with Fusitua on the wing so what does Kearney decide to change? Fusitua. Thats probably the only difference. Medling with something thats not even broke lol. Kearney did say its going to take time so we just have to be patient.

I don't buy that, Phil. Good coaches have always made us more than competitive. This lot we have now aren't talentless duds.
They're way overrated though IMO

We've never had a proven coach IMO and only Anderson and Cleary have had success, but we rate some players highly on the basis of flashes of brilliance and then bag the likes of Mannering and Lillyman who deliver big efforts every week

But yeah to me Kearney was never the answer, but if they thought Elliott and McFadden were then Kearney's as much of a chance

Everything points to this being a big standard season

Kata's form under Kearney is a concern, above most other players I reckon. Remember Kata was the big improver over the last couple of seasons, went from 'this guy's bloody hopeless' to our best player almost.

First three rounds this year and it seems the good work might be coming undone. The whole situation needs more time, of course. I can't wait to see how we're travelling by round ten (pre-Origin).

Mooks should have what it takes to become a success, you don't get taken on by the Storm and Broncos if you don't have ability.

I'd say Wayne and Bellamy would struggle with this mob.
Kearney has got to have learnt something from those guys.
But maybe the soft skills they have of getting the best out of their players is something that is hard to learn?

Of course it's all going to take time, but it feels like effort wasn't there last night.

Kearney going back to basics I suspect? No offloads etc.

Maybe a its a Bobby Fischer move? He played the same 4 opening moves in chess every game until the world champion game. Through his competition completely off as they had studied his other moves.

Can't say I've watched the whole game, but Cowboys struggling without their big forwards Scott and Tamalaulo and backup fullback!
40+ tackles in opposition 20m at 70min mark with the great JT and only 1 try.

I may have to retract my Foran will improve things statement!

Is Kearney a bit to conservative
I kind of expected that type of game plan. When someone mentioned during the game 'are we not allowed to offload anymore' I instantly thought 'Kearneys orders'. Also our 4 or 5 sets against the Storm where we did 5 forward hit ups and then the bomb is another example of Kearney incorperating conservative approaches. Yeah I think he is.
