Who thinks we should just can the big boppas on the wing strategy? We had at least 3 opportunities when speed on the edge would have ended up in tries. Maumalo looks like hes in quicksand most games.
It doesnt always have to be about return metres from the back 3. And using Fusitua as a battering ram has finally ended with him being smashed and injured.
Storm seem to do just fine without big wingers. They have serious wheels out there and their FORWARDS get most of the metres required to get into attacking positions.
We should have canned it the moment we had any winger that wasn't named Manu.
The Manu Effect has absolutely killed us, because our muppet coaches fail to realise that despite being an incredibly flawed winger, Manu had a devastating scoring ability along with his big metres. Two half-players loosely combined to make a whole.
We have now set this as a dangerous precedent for all our wingers, but it won't work.
Ken Maumalo has the metre eating ability with complete incompetence as a winger.
Fus is an out and out winger who does far too much hit up work and often gets gassed.
Manu was a rare exception and there is no mini-beast out there, nor should we be trying to find one.
So many of our 'real forwards' stand around unable to do their job because by the time they get the bloody ball it's tackle four. Just look at Ah Mau, one or two hitups and a pile of tackles before hitting the bench.
Our back five needs a complete overhaul - build from RTS and Fus and dump the rest.
We're no hope until we do that, and it will never happen with Big Brains Kearney, and we'll do a full circle and watch us lose again next week.
