Vs Panthers Finals

Meh the pack is big enough it's just not good enough

Tevaga tries hard but seriously he's not what's needed

Penrith were great though that was a pounding

NRL only has Passi (109m) going over 100m in forwards and Jazz 102m.

Turning points.
Kata penalty play the ball.
Blair offload at line, Panthers knock on not picked up.
Maloney 40/20.
Luke kicking out restart on full.
Maumalo being a softcock and passing the ball to RTS instead of taking the hitup.
RTS injury.
Kata defensive reads.
Kata bad play the ball.
SJ not coming out of shreds mentally at half time.
Panthers kicking game.

I think there were bigger issues than SJ tonight. There was no effort to fight back once things got hard.

Definitely this. Johnson and Green were undoubtedly poor. But Kearney has put all his eggs in the big back three making metres for us basket, and when they can't get the job done, we're left with a smaller forward pack who get too easily rolled by the opposition.

SJ felt like a big part of it.
Attack unstructured.
Kicking game on repeat.
Kata defense was an issue.
Communication an issue.
Losing RTS an issue.
Mental toughness an issue.

SJ in a few of those issues.

Look,

What is needed now is that this is not another “once in 7 years appearance”. This needs to be consistent every year or so.

They will all be better for the experience. Penrith feel like an example, they have been at this stage past few years. They were down by 10 and found the way to claw back.

Trust the process?

Green was as bad as Johnson tonight. Our halves were always going to struggle when the forwards couldn’t gain momentum. We are still short of a hard running prop (except Paasi).
Kata always has mistakes in his game but has been lucky this year as not really been exposed.
I’m p/seed off with tonight’s result but overall a better season than expected.

Hard luck lads, effort certainly there but Penrith were near perfect with the ball

A few ratings from me

Ticker, 9/10, with that possession flow an old Warriors outfit would have had a bkg score again them

Forwards 3/10, absolutely no desire at all to get back and do any hard work in the 2nd half, there are exceptions like Tevaga who was into everything and for 4 sets straight he was the only forward who touched the ball. The wingers and centre are doing far too much work

Halves 2/10. Worst collective kicking game I have seen in a very long time at this level, it was like watching local footy, poorly timed and executed kicks for 80mins. I know it is hard to attack without a pack doing anything, but for me it is once again a Missing Person poster going up on a lamppost for Shaun in a big game.

Overall it isn't a bad season for the Warriors, just a few positions I feel they are short of being more of a threat, mainly centre and backrow

The Warriors have a lot of weaknesses and need to play very well to overcome them (which is probably true of most non-elite teams). They couldn't do that tonight and the weaknesses came to the fore.

Ken Maumalo and Solomone Kata has to go because they SUCK. Ken failed to make his yards, why? Because hes a one dimensional player and so easy to read. You just run up and tackle him. Kata was just as bad.

f**kin dissapointing game. SJ wasnt much but he was trying AND he had Green and Luke who were all trying but just no good. RTS took our winning spirit with him. RTS started to look fragile against the Raiders. He never shouldve played that game IMO but we paid the price.

That is extremely harsh on Maumolo, he made the most metres of any player on the field !!

While on metres made Adam Blair really extended himself with 49m tonight, and the most telling stat overall in terms of the Warriors attack, Luke 37m, had no space to work on

Nah I dont think its harsh at all.

I saw him get manhandled by the hooker, get smashed, passed it to RTS when he shouldve settled (that pass ended up with RTS getting injured), get tackled out, rush up and let the Panthers through, made 1 metre in 2 hit ups, knock it on, get the ball bombed to him so he can jump and catch it a metre out from the line and couldnt even do that! Thats a crap winger.

Harsh?

Maumalo improved this year, catching and his hands 100% better.
Not the greatest winger, but not serviced well by his center, does a good job bringing it back normally and seems to be his job assigned.

Kata has not improved.
Defensively bad, can't hold a line and if he shoots out he misses frequently.
Doesn't set Ken up.
Relies on barge, a bad habit many have coming up from under 20s .
Greedy.
Serious consideration needs to be taken if he keeps his spot without drastic improvement.

But you said he failed to make his yards, he made 182 of them, the most of any player on either side and 80m more than Fus on the other wing

Some of your other points I can agree on, especially that pointless pass to Roger who was already carrying an injury, and his future as a winger. But if the Warriors want to continue with this style of the forwards doing no hard work, then Ken will be first name picked each week

Don't know what it says about the quality of the rest of the team tonight, but I would have had Ken among the top few Warriors on the park

The Warriors will never win a premiership while Ken is on the wing. He doesnt score tries. He just does heaps of hit ups and was his hit ups outstanding? Were they barnstorming? HELL NO. Hes not a championship winger, too many weaknesses and errors.

Im surprised he made all those yards. Can you provide your source please?

Kata did give Ken the ball twice tonight and he did what Ive always said he would and thats fail to beat his man. Ken has improved but he's still only offers one thing. Just ONE. And thats just straight hard running but he wont beat anyone, so you just rush up to him, like the Panthers did tonight, and shut him down.

Id prefer a 'points on the board winger' then a no linebreaks yards winger.

The league live app, they have Ken 182, Hiku 155 and Paasi 109 the only Warriors in 3 figures

Agree 100% about him not being a championship winger, but the areas that need work are bigger than him I think, a strike forward would be number 1, there isn't a pig there you can throw the ball too that will run over his opposite to set something up. Shaun under pressure still massive question marks and a strike centre would be handy too, Hiku has huge ability in attack but I'm not sure how much better you can make his defence

Kens good. Very solid.

Kata has improved, but he still has many deficiencies especially in regards to his defence and selfishness with passing.

Hiku simply can't defend. Like... at all.

I think we need a bit of tinkering in our backline but our second row, that looks very thin for next year.
