This post Mirrors my own thinking.

On a side note Our forwards got killed tonight, they got cut down before the advantage line.

That problem was unfortunately generated by our dummy half service which was appalling.

BINGO!

I have been saying this all year - Friends service from dummy half is boarderline shocking. Cant believe McFadden has kept him there, even more ridiculous is that they resigned him. This team is looking destined to miss out on the top 8 next year also.

I saw tonight's game as very similar to when we played penrith at home this year. That game was very close and we had a few lucky plays - Johnson's intercept and dumb in goal play from moulin which led to a try for us - which saw us home by 10 points. Nobody was saying how badly we played then. That night we got lucky, tonight it was panthers turn. To say they were much better than us tonight is as wrong as saying we were much better than them 10 weeks ago. I just don't see much between the teams.

Are you crazy. We looked shit last night. Under 50% completion rate in the first half! It was one of those days where the entire team is a bit off. That happens like clockwork every 3 or 4 games for the Warriors and I have no idea why. If it wasn't for a moment of Manu brilliance we did absolutely nothing the entire game. I can't fathom how anyone would see that as even close to acceptable.

With that performance we have no right to complain about the refs. They got every single call ALL GAME. But even so, we never gave ourselves a chance the way we were playing so it doesn't matter. If they had shown up to play today I'd be spewing about the refs too, but they didn't.

TBH, I said then we were lucky - I've been saying for some time we're well short. And last night, sure the refs didn't help us - but as benek said, you have to help yourselves first...

I don't see Friend as the problem either, that's ridiculous - the issues imo are the culture, the pack, the halves, and the gameplan (coaching)... not minor things, unfortunately

S Manu 113m
Plum 134m
Kite 136m
Mckendry 137m

Mannering 101m

Our forwards suck!

Carry on the stats and you understand the problem!
Lillyman 74m
Matulino 40m
Rapira 41m
Matangi 58m
Total 213m

Plum 134m
McKendry 137m
Kite 136m.

Game, set & match!

BTW. Manu 249m. outstanding.
Put him in the forwards, at least ytou will get some real effort.

Our props need to perform or be thrown out.

I love Manu as a winger but if he wants to play prop give him a go can't be any worse than the incumbents, only reservation is I don't know if any other winger could score anywhere close to 17 tries on the end of that backline. Perhaps they go with out and out speed on the wings with Fish/Fusitua/Tui next year.

Any warriors lineup that carries both Rapira and Matagi is going to fall flat. And with the only depth options being Gubb (and potentially Paasi if he stays with the club) then I think we're at crisis point in propping depth.

How they could even contemplate releasing Vete with lisone being 1 - 2 years away from NRL level is beyond me.

Rapira hasn't lived up to expectation, if Manu is keep to play prop and is showing potential in the off-season I'd give him a go next season

Well IronLion i will honour our bet and disapear until the grand final's over

Dont worry about mate, I think you have been punished enough watching this team this season. Keep posting buddy.

I had an unfair advantage anyway :) - I took off my rose colored warriors glasses for the first time ever and saw the reality of this club for 2014/15.

Vete has all the potential in the world and will eventually blossom into a good player. Warriors just cant get the best out of him so they told him he can go if he can find a home.

Paasi very close to going, we are not willing to offer him much to stay while the Roosters and by all accounts the Eels are. Manu Mau anyone ?

I like Manu Ma'u but I reckon he sort of falls into the same category as our existing forwards- hard-running but not all that big, can't dominate physically. Sort of in the Matagi/Lillyman/Rapira category for size and physical impact (not that those 3 are necessarily comparable with each other as overall players).

We actually came out looking alright initially, but once the refs started bombing us out of the match they just went into their shells and it was game over. Spineless performance. Pathetic display from nearly the entire forward pack. Konny didn't look 100% either (he stayed down for a bit after his first hit up, did he get hurt there or just carrying it into the game?)

I hope Cappy cleans out the pack - we don't need all these lazy passengers.

Vete fell massively out of favor because of his attitude.

Papali the same issue with training.

Personally I actually think the Warriors of all the NRL teams can least afford to keep people like that around.

Passi on the other hand they rate for his off field work ethic and unlike others that have worked like tradesmen.....Paasi has been making a big impact in the NSW cup all season....that would seem the type that the Warriros shouldn't let go.

I've read that they want to keep Paasi and have let him look around because they can't offer him the pathway to first grade next year that he deserves.

That was a hard watch, like a train wreck coming since Cronulla but couldn't turn away.

Completely lost that game in the forwards, dummy half & ruck area. We don't have the team to match it at the elite level currently, we've relied on touches of brilliance from SJ, Manu & Konnie to get over opposition too much this year, instead of getting on top the hard way, through forward dominance (parity even) & momentum.

Matulino & Mateo have dropped off the pace & few youngster stepping up this season, Lolohea looks the goods but injured, contrast that with Penrith, boy they have some young talent there, the kiwi winger Zelezniak impressed, hope he wasn't one of our juniors surely not. Hope of development team take a good hard look at themselves, just not good enough!

Congrats Penrith, I'll support you now in your finals run now, hope you smash the roosters especially their halves Pearce Maloney

Why can't they offer him that pathway? We're in desperate need of that kind of player if he can develop quickly enough.

Yep, unfortunately many talented kids get it too easy, and develop these habits - dare I suggest that this is a particular problem in NZ?

Warriors need to work out how to deal with it - some sort of mentoring scheme would seem viable, Price, Wiki, Mannering, Lillyman, Friend, Leuluai and Tomkins all know the value of hard work, etc

But we remain endlessly in this cycle of lacking character/mental strength under pressure, then the calls come for hard-nut Aussies etc... Like them or not, at least week-in-week out Lillyman, Friend, and Tomkins have put in big efforts (the latter two have had the odd mistake riddled games) but nobody could question their effort (and I am betting their efforts off the field too) - the only Kiwis in the team you could suggest the same of are Vatuvei and Mannering (perhaps Henry)...

yes that seems an Oxy Moron. A club short of Power running forwards not having opportunity for fringe players that work hard.

I don't know. As you are aware some are speculating on signing news. I have no inside word on any of that stuff.

Paasi has been approached by the Roosters and one other NRL club ( I forget who ) I guess when he asked the Warriors about his options Rohan Smith the Ex Rooster man who is now Paasi's coach would have had a lot to say on the matter in terms of what is best for Paasi's future ( talking personal options over what the Warriors can do for him).

It sounds like our money is trapped in the Mateo / Nielson deals.

Well I honestly give it up to you. Thought you were over reacting a bit but you were totally on point and saw the outcome early on. Big (but wise) call.
