I logged off for a while so as not to be too reactionary to another loss but, in saying that, tonight was the first time this year that I think we genuinely won't make the play-offs.

Iafeta said it all in his excellent post earlier in this thread. For me this year is now about enjoying a few more wins here and there, and watching our talent (and some toughness - i.e. Lillyman) on display when it happens, and it will.

Bring on Canberra.

I dont think we can win a premiership with SJ in the halves anymore.
Consistency a huge issue, no footy brain and now requires huge gaps to take the line.
Only way possible is with a Hunt, Cronk or Foran style partnering him, which won't happen as we spent all our money on a fullback and hooker.

Yep my thoughts exactly. I think we're done for 2016.

I think it's looking like a five horse race between Broncos, Cowboys, Storm, Sharks and the Eels (if they can win enough games to play finals). Don't really see anyone else making the GF right now

After watching tonight's double-header at Suncorp on TV, the NRL must surely consider making it an annual event? Or mimic the Millenium weekend in Super League and have all teams play at Suncorp over 2 or 3 nights? That would be a great event

With the season nearing halfway, we sitting at 12 on the table and our previous history of late runs to making the 8. I say we're a fair chance of playing finals footy.

It's important we get our team selections sorted particularly in the halves cos that's where our problem lies. We only truly looked good when SJ and Tui were in there IMO against the Bulldogs. Then we put Tui at fullback and the Storm thrashed us.

I'm positive we can turn our season around. I think it's too late and tiresome to push for a new coach. Tevaga and the newbies are doing well. Can we win it? Yes.

I just don't think he really got his confidence back and I'm not sure he's gonna get it back either. He just won't take on the line like before he got injured last year. Why keep throwing short passes to Bodene when it's brought us no success at all? And if you're gonna kick, make sure the damn ball won't go dead in goal resulting in seven tackle sets. Happens far too often.:x

"Game management" is lacking when we need it most. It's there in patches but not for 80 minutes and in some games not at all.

Well Cappy has had his "naughty boys" episode now and the team improved for a week. They were good for periods against the Panthers but it's got to be for the full eighty.:p

Don't know what can be done with our current squad. It seemed this year we had a team to really make a go of it but that's just not going to happen with current team selections. It's got to be a combination of coaching and the roster. I'm not sure I see Cappy continuing here beyond this year.

Jim Doyle has said many times that they're backing him but he also said it's a results-driven business.

Who knows where we go next? I know I'm really pissed off as they've run out of excuses now. Perform or go elsewhere (team and coach):x

And stop signing middling players from other clubs. If we can't fill a gap in the roster with a quality player then look at the under-20's and Reserve grade. Ah f**k I'm rambling.......

Sadly true.

Thanks again Phil and Blair for your entertaining game threads. If I could multi-task I would read them while watching the game. Alas I am too slow but I always enjoy reading the thread at half time and after the game.

I'm just Phil's wingman but thanks!

It's always one of the highlights of my week when Phil gets the game-day thread started and we're all back on that overrated Rainbow's End rollercoaster, the one that's not quite as good as many others but it's the only one we've got, so no matter how bumpy and disappointing the ride (but with a few thrilling corners, along with some gutwrenching drops) most users line up for another go.

Some customer feedback from Christchurch (from my elderly mother):

"Our first time at the temporary AMI stadium, the seats rattle (plastic) when anyone comes past, we were near one of the flights of stairs, never again in that area, because its only temporary its not wooden, and the idiots never stop going up and down carrying their drink trays and food, they miss half the game by not sitting in their seats, it drove us mad.

"It is more exciting to go to a live game I admit, and especially if you are winning, the first half was good. Sellout 18,000 they wouldn't get that at rugby here. They are coming for another 3 years so we will go next year."
