Think that game will encapsulate the Warriors season. Not pretty but kept in the contest grinding away

When the Warriors win, there will be 4 words, grind, gutsy, effort and scramble.

In the current lineup there isn’t any skill or game breaking ability in attack, it will be grind away, finish the sets well, and try to wear the opposition down over the long run. The CHT try is the perfect example, the kick was decidedly average, but sheer effort created the try. 2 wins will keep the pairing together, but this 6 and 7 ain’t it for the long term success.

Defensively, the structure doesn’t look great out wide, they are getting skinned constantly, but those 2 words are there, effort and scramble. They keep on coming and in the end just do enough to stop the try somehow. Long term against a team executing well, there may be some tough nights

Going to be an interesting season. Those 4 words I mentioned up top, probably sum up no player in the comp better than Charnze
Yeah I 100% agree with all of this. We can and should be proud of winning a game, but I don't there's many good signs that say we can challenge better sides. The Roosters, despite beating the Panthers last week, are a bottom 8 side and we snuck past them at home.

A depressing but likely prescient assessment.

It’s been so long since we’ve had a season, or part of a season, where we’ve played with some level of pizazz or adventure. It’s as if at the start of the year an average team from three years ago faxes us notes on how to play league and some of the pages are missing.

The difference between 2023 and now is we had SJ, who had a career season and was creating all sorts of things, Metcalf who was unburdened by playmaking and could run as he pleased, CNK was an attacking option as well, and Egan was running as well. That's before you factor in AFB who was his own presence close to the line and influenced the scoreboard on his own. Dallin had an absolute field day because those inside him created space and committed defenders.

Now you have very little in the way of attacking creativity. It's so predictable. We won last night because we defended well against a side who also has very little creativity, CHT pulled out an individual try and Ali is an absolute weapon.

At some stage, Webster is going to have to accept that Luke Metcalf is not a 7. He doesn't have the experience in running a side, and it's too much to expect we'll give him 2-3 seasons to become that guy. It's stifling his strengths, which are running and making the most of broken defensive lines. I actually think he could/should be our next fullback.

TMM was dynamite yesterday, admittedly against a woeful Roosters NSW Cup team. Webster isn't going to change CHT/Metcalf unless we get a run of poor results, but if we're going to challenge for the 8, we're either going to have to keep defending incredibly well like we have the last two weeks, or find an attacking spark that doesn't seem forthcoming.

In last night's presser, Webby said we could expect to see Metcalf/CHT getting to their best by round 6/7. So that must be at least how long he's planning on giving that combination to work, I guess, injuries notwithstanding

RTS did his hammy before the 40-20. So he made that tackle on Young with a torn hamstring according to Webster.
If that is the case, that isn’t great from medical crew, the difference between a slight tear and a full tear in a hammy is massive, any signs it isn’t right surely you have to get him straight off and putting no more efforts through it

Did RTS even tell them straight away?
