In NZ we are just taught to play hard but fair. .

That's one of the more ridiculous things I've ever read!

You're seriously saying the likes of the All Blacks and the Kiwis have been noted for their fair play?

We push the boundaries as much as Aussies - it's down to ability - in league, they generally have more, we do in union... but it's not about who plays fair

And fyi Ben, how many times do you need to try and run over the top of Jeff Robson until you realise that he's just gonna keep chopping you down around the ankles?

Exactly, but suspect it came from upstairs to wear Robson down, didn't work! He didn't even offer a step at the line.

A gutsy, pretty heartbreaking loss!

Proud of them today.

Phil, you're right, no one was there to support Manu in that late line break. That was the game.

Thought Tomkins should if been somewhere in the frame, must of been slipping over somewhere.

While people are slamming the defense, today the amount of ball we had and field possession it was clearly our attack that did not execute!

If we can't win at home with those factors against a team in the lower end of the 8, I don't think we make the 8.

On the "Aussie backs" thing, mentioned earlier - when have we ever had a successful coach who has a pedigree for coaching quality defensive sides? That's likely to be just as much to blame, as anything.

Plus, it would be interesting to rewind each of the tries scored out wide against us this season and look at the quality of the defense and linespeed up the middle seconds earlier. Stop an offload or lock down the ballrunner before they have the chance to pass and how many of these tries get scored? The best defensive sides are good at shutting things down early.

C'mon Cowboys! Win again tonight in Townee and those boys across the Tasman might stay in the eight!

*edit* Raiders imploding! 0-18 down, now 22-18 up!

Mate the All Blacks are their own entity. They are what the Warriors are not "Professionals" and they show mana/respect in each other. They play as a unit we got players that think just because they got tree trunks as legs that they can just steam roll over their opponents (Ala our U20's do this all the time, Matulino Today etc)

And your example with the Kiwis. You do know most of the players in the backs are coached in Australia right? Mental edge wins all the time over brawn in fact most of the forwards are also coached in Australia bar the Warriors players.

Big Marn mentioned that one good point. Where are the Maori players that often get over looked? The Storm seem to snatch them up and they go well in their system.

Bodene Thompson is Maori. ]He's been a good pick up and may solidify my post more and he shows consistency and intelligence. Uses his size wisely

taking the 2 twice hurt us...we should of kept the pressure on them like in the first half and just kept rolling the ball into the in goal and wearing them down.

Having said that...They thought they could win it on the back of their defence. They nearly did it and I have to give them a wrap for trying.

For everyone who is having a whinge Sharks have won 6 of their last 7...and against quality teams. People need to get some perspective. In every game there is a winner and a loser...I am sure the cowboys, Bulldogs and Roosters didnt pack a sad and declare their season was over when they lost to the sharks recently.

We were unlucky not to win tonight.

It's not about losng to the Sharks, its about the amount of possession we had and failed to score points. I am not sure of the stats from the Cows, Schools and Dogs game, but what we had in the first half should of produced at least 18 points, and worn the opposition down in the last 15-20mins.

Hmm. Manly currently schooling the Broncos even moreso than they did us last week. Despite their tough run, not sure if I'd back against them locking in a top 8 spot come finals time. Big swing in their F & A.

On attack most of our backs simply don't have a clue what is going on.
Last tackle options....Nil.
No wonder they go for the two points.

Bronco's didn't know what to do as it wasn't Friday night football! :D

Why isn't it Cappy in the gun? He's been in the job well over a year, and I'm not seeing any evidence that he's better than Elliott or anyone else (not Bluey, he was cake).

I'd be going after him. His use of the interchange continues to baffle me, last week's selection v Manly was absymal, I'm not seeing any sort of attacking structure at all, defensively we're making the same errors on the edge, etc.

Wouldn't be the players I'd be criticising, effort was there yesterday and we all knew our halves would struggle.

I'd be giving Cappy 1 more year, with the notice that he isn't just expected to make the 8 next season, but to push for top 4 and mount a serious title challenge. Short of that and he's gone - Craig Bellamy is off contract at the end of 2016, if not him then Geoff Toovey, and if not him then Stacey will have had 2 years as NSW cup coach (presumably) and 1 in NYC, and has impressed so far in each competition.

Absolutely his KPIs should include top 4, Paul Langmack could get our 2016 roster to the finals.

I dunno, I'd be making phone calls now if I was Jim Doyle. See if someone like a Toovey, an ESL coach of high repute (ie when Trent Robinson came back) is available. Just because Scurrah and co made a bunch of dead shit coaching appointments doesn't mean we shouldn't be seeking the best man for the job right now.

Hell, one of my phone calls would also go to Ivan. Worth a try, right?

Yep, there's heat at Penrith. Although you would safely say he'd have another year to sort out this one.

Penrith's injuries were terrible too, of course.

I think both Ivan and Cappy will get a years grace due to injury tolls, rightly or wrongly.

Even if the Dragons (finally) win today vs Knights it's still a great game next week in Wellington. The winner is in the eight. 2015 is more than just alive, there's everything to play for.
