I am going to sign off tonight with this, if we don't bite the bullet and keep KK who is our best back tonight and give ourselves some options in the halves we are going to do it tough,

They know there is nothing from the 7, they push up on Feleti and KK and we are jammed, you can all come on and defend Robson with calls like ''it's not only him" but he is in the friggin way and I don't care what happened last year he has been worked out

Rant over

At last a decent kick, still doesnt solve the problem in general play

That's exactly how I saw it too.

They umbrella defense rushes up on your danger man as they know robson will not do anything spectacular. By the time our danger men gets it, they're swamped.

KK at half

We always start slow tbh...I know it's a cliche, but it's also our style of footy. We take time to settle into it and always have, I'm not getting the knives out yet, and I;m certainly not gonna throw words like lazy around. The effort was there from most of the guys, the execution wasn't.

yeah, it is a cliche, and there is a heap of time left, but we've got some problems which I think we can all see. I think lazy, in terms of mentally lazy, not being switched on is a fair call. Gus was right, we were completely out enthused. Looked flat from the kick off. Lazy in terms of sitting back and waiting for things to happen.

Who also plays 5/8 and frankly is a better player than robson

Clearly, based on his NRL games...let's be serious, the kid is promising, but if he plays first grade this year we have serious problems. The club clearly sees him as a fullback, having moved the very good Tim Mortimer to accommodate him, and there is no way the kid is ready. Anthony Mitchell is a better option if you want a ball player, and even he is a way off judging by the trials he played.

we will if we dont sign Inu and Mateo.

anyway, that was a really disappointing performance.

completely lacking in any intensity or energy whatsoever.

I think Gus just nailed it on the head. Lazy and out enthused.

There is no way in hell we should be out enthused. Outplayed, have an off night yes, but out enthused, no - and it's been the same for the first three weeks.

We've got a problem in the 7 and the kicking game which is there for everyone to see.

We struggle to make it out of our own half when under pressure and are giving away too many penalties and field position through mistakes.

Our defence in our own 20 and individual brilliance is keeping us in games. Cant rely on that all year.

A lot of work to do.

Gus was so right.

It's like, who cares about 2 competition points. Just win enough to get in the finals then it's worth something to play for.

I've said it all along since the beginning of the season, we need a real organizing halfback which can get us in field position with strategy and a good kicking game. Then once there, let hayne show the magic.

Now, we need hayne to do everything. i.e. we only look dangerous if Hayne has the ball.

What if he gets injured? We'll be dead in the water.

Basically, we are still unfit whereas the Tiges look super fit.

I don't understand the fitness issue. Fui was doing triathlons, Mateo looked fit in the training pics pre-season.

What I think is that they did all this fitness stuff until 2 weeks before the season and they let them pig out.

They're like us couch potatoes who do not want to move.

Yeah, basically the options for the 7 this year are Keating and Robson. We've just got to suck it up and get by.

I'd give it to Keating, tell him it's his jumper and his team. Give him some ownership and responsibility and see how he responds. Keating in 7, Mortimer in 6 and Robson in 14.

What annoyed me is the tactics the tigers used all night to take markers out of play. Players either took steps forward off the mark or rolled off to the side so markers were no longer square (crappy rule to begin with). Their forwards weren't actually dominating until after 20min of this rubbish when our forwards started tiring after getting pinned in their end.

I've seen enough of Poore to think he is a total flop of a buy and can't produce unless the forwards around him do a bulk of the work. He still looks VERY unfit 3 matches in and was huffing and puffing very early on.

M.K seems to make some very ordinary kicking decisions. Against the dragons he kicked for field position with 1.5 mins to go when we needed a try (with Hayne calling for the ball also).
Tonight he kicks for touch on the 3rd tackle to gift the tigers posession on their 30m line. Take his kicking license away.

Cayless is showing his age. Doesn't give us much meters and he's making some really stupid errors probably due to fatigue. We need to blood another forward pronto and Cayless needs to be moved wider and onto the bench. Make Hindmarsh captain.

For the short time Horo was in, I liked what I saw. Some straight hard running. I would have him there before Oake who did ok but when he's on, we've got that slow 3 backrowers again with Oake, Hindy, Smith. No forward momentum like when we had Wagon, Chad, Hindy

Well, I took the time to read this entire thread. There are many correct points of perspective of the how, why, when and where the team is at to date......but here is my take on it. Fact: Eels lost every game during the trials and haven't offered up anything breathtaking so far during the regular season that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. In fact, If I see anymore blue and gold ink in the "Parragraph" sprouting who is going to do what to whom and when then I am going to blow a fuse. Throw in these distracting appearances on TV as well and it spells embarrasment. Time to get serious and forget about last year. Eels will get swamped unless they get their act together and stop thinking they are invicible. Reality check starts now....

So pleased to be going to States on Sunday for 3 weeks, just for the fact that these guys cant put 10 minutes of football together which is so f ken frustrating.

we seemed a bit lost in attack, didnt have a clue what to do.

We were terrible but credit to the tigers, they were very good, their line speed on defence was amazing, they were still rushing off their defensive line well into the 2nd half than holding back.

I thought we gave Marshall too much free roam, to cut the tigers down you need to restrict the amount of time Benji has with the ball.

Our starts are just killing us, down 12, 20 and 15 in the last 3 games. If we can fix that we'll be win alot more games.

I hope DA is ramming this point home... we are looking like we have more ego now than we did during the humble teamwork and skill we saw in the second half of last year - and less results/competitiveness to show for it.
