Rockingham 10 drew Kalgoorlie 10

With torrential rain marring the first half and keeping the scores locked at 6 all, The North Beach Sea Eagles ran away in the second half to easily beat the Joondalup Giants 40 to 6. Too many handling errors from both sides took away from what should have been a closer contest. Best players for the Sea Eagles included James McGowan and old timers Tony Merrick and Glen Godecke with eighteen year old sensation Tyrone Cranston finishing with 18 points from 2 tries and 5 goals. Best for the Giants was Josh Irving, with good games from Jamie Lamaro and Jeremy Browne.

Central Bulldogs with a stronger list than 2007 and focused coaching staff have continued their form with another big win to lead all the way over Fremantle Roosters and record a solid 46 to 6 win. Multiple try scorer Adam Scari was best on the field with three crosses and was backed up by Waisake Volau with 2. Other good players for the Bulldogs were Brad McLean and Adam Pedroti with the best for the Roosters being Adam Constantine.

Rockingham Sharks played the first game in the Goldfields against the Kalgoorlie Brothers for 2008 and came home with an emphatic 54 to 14 win. Best for the Sharks were Shane Totten and Dam Jacobson and for Kalgoorlie, hooker Rama McKenzie.

South Perth Lions runners stole the limelight with 48 to nil beating of Willagee Bears. Full back Michael Guthrie had 24 points with 2 tries and 8 goals, while winger Jack Greenwood ran in 4 tries and centre Clae Morgan finished with 2 tries to dominate a strong Lions outfit. Lock Anthony Cutrupi was the best for the forwards. The final 15 minutes of the game saw 4 send offs which took the shine off the contest for spectators.

Again some lob sided affairs this weekend, other than Nuke & myself did anyone get a chance to catch any of the games?

LIONS AVENGE 2007 FINALS LOSS
In a replay of the 2007 Grand Final South Perth Lions continued their good current form winning easily over North Beach Sea Eagles 44 to 18. Coach Andrew Korn has worked his charges well this year and would be very pleased with the effort over the traditional north of the river rivals and current premiers.
Dave Collis led the Lions with 2 tries and was his side’s best with a good performance from prop Clint Frazer. Michael Guthrie continued his point blitz with another 16 to his name. Luke Heath from North Beach also played well.
With a change to Friday night fixtures, the Rockingham Sharks won well over the Fremantle Roosters with a 48 to 12 score line. After a slow start, the Sharks gained momentum to take a strong position in the first half leading 32 to 4.
Centre Blair Wilson and second rower Sam Jacobson both had good games for the Sharks while Andy Donaldson the best for the Roosters.
Kalgoorlie Brothers had their first win for the season with a solid 48 to 24 result over Joondalup Giants in the Goldfields. John Church played a blinder with three tries and was easily the best for the Brothers. Rongo Keen also played well for the home side which had a spread of try scorers on the day. Kereopa McMillan of the Giants had 2 tries and was best for his side.
Central Bulldogs kept their unbeaten record intact with 48 to 6 win over Willagee Bears. Nick Te Aute had 2 tries for the Bulldogs and was the only multiple scorer on the day in a sound team effort. The Bulldogs were able to do as they please with much of the tries being made through the middle of the field. Best for the Bulldogs were Josh Benjamin, Ritchie Bower and Robert Sharp, with Andrew Murray the best for the Bears.

I thought our score was 44-24 to Kalgoorlie? I may be wrong, but that's what I thought it was.

South Perth defeated Joondalup in all 3 grades today (Womens, Premier-Grade, and First-Grade).

I think the womens game was a 10-6 result, Premier-Grade was a 38-20 result, and First-Grade was a disgusting 64-0 result. It'll be back to the drawing boards this week at training one suspects ...!

North Beach Sea Eagles returned to form with an emphatic 60 to 18 win over Central Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have enjoyed a fairy tale start to the season and were undefeated coming into the game, but had to lower their colours to a better team.
At half time the game was in the balance at 22 – 18, but the experience of North Beach proved too much as they did as they pleased in the second half.
Best for the Sea Eagles were James McGowan and Tyron Cranston with 2 tries each while Robert Sharp led the Bulldogs from second row.
South Perth Lions showed why they are on top of the table with a clinical display of rugby league against the Joondalup Giants. From the 4 minute mark and try from Glen Bunsworth who had three for the day, the Lions never looked like being beaten as the Giants struggled to get into the game.
Best player David Collis with 2 tries controlled the game from half back and ensured there was and even spread of plays and tries across the team. In total there were nine different try scorers for the Lions.
The score could have been far worse had the Lions not overused the ball in some of their forward thrusts. To the defense of Joondalup they were down on some of their senior players and found it hard to counter the hard running of the opposition.
Rockingham Sharks had a 48 to 32 win over Willagee Bears at Webber Reserve in a close game
Fremantle Roosters finally delivered on their promise of recent weeks with a good 38 to 30 win over Kalgoorlie Brothers. The Fremantle team maintained the ascendancy over the Brothers from the start and will be able to start to build on their season from here.
Tashi Harrower and Tyrone Coppedge both finished with 3 tries each to be in the Roosters best players. Kalgoorlie’s best included Shane Hosking and Mike Graham.
